Hello Chaps
Spoke to Dave at Revolution, this morning, and they are expecting the 3DMP at the begining of November.

Cost is £549 for kit, £355 for Motor and ESC, and a whopping £380 for the Li-pos!!! and around £180 for 3 cyclic servos.

Anyway, good things cost!! So a deposit was given, for one of the first batch.

Regards

I had a one-digit position on the waiting list, and I got mine last Saturday. Probably you all know that this is an awesome helicopter. 2.1kW peak at 7 pounds AUW....

I have flown many helicopters, including turbines, and all of them look pale in comparison.

What setup are you using?
How "modifiable" is that servo cage?
I've got mine on order from Revolution (no delivery date) will initially use it with the Jazz 55-10-32 Tango 45-09 8S2P combo out of my logo
This should just about get it off the ground ??

Looking like we're living in interesting times

Looks like my wife may not be my friend either.

I too, am on the list at Revolution, I was told early November!!

Still, I suppose it gives me time to think on how I can get the money together to buy Li-Pos (£380), Motor/ESC (£355), servos (£180).

A lot of money, but after loking at the vids, it looks a brilliant heli, both the way it has been engineered and the power available.

At the moment, the only motor/esc and li-po configuration looks like the one that Revolution sell. (Kontronic) Is this the way people are going?

I too, would like to hear from those who have the 3DMP, on wht they have chosen.

Regards

One thing with the lipo that crosses my mind is that Jan is supplying a kit to build 10S5P.

This will be cheaper (pos £90) per pack than the factory packs from FlightPower / T P and so forth..but, and I am unsure about this, are the pre built packs made from cells that have been selected to have the same internal resistance and on and on?

I am sure the cells supplied will all be from the same batch, but that garantees nothing - from 50 cells it only takes one to be suspect.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

@Reesy,

I use the Plettenberg motor and Schulze 32.55k controller. The servo cage cannot be modified for other servos. Anyway, there are no other servos in this size that have the required power and resolution.

@Peter G,

Why have I chosen the 3DMP? Because it is the best electric Helicopter that money can buy. (And yes, I do have a Joker CX on Lipos!) Look at the simplicity and elegance of the design. Fly it. It is as neutral as it can be. Power to weight is incredible. You'll either crash it within the first thirty seconds, or you'll go away with a big grin on your face...

Can I ask why the plettenburg - I am looking to set mine up moderatley - I will run 10s (In fact Flight Power tell me that towards the end of November they will be releasing their carbon extreme packs in a 3P 6000Mah configuration) - for longer flight times. I dont need full on 2200 headspeeds and short flights - sooner have a less amp hungry set up.

Is this the case with Plet over the Tango, softer yet still more than adequate for 99% of flyers?

If so Plet, kontronic and FP 6000s will be my setup.

Also - the schulz esc - I will go Kontronic Jazz as I have a couple of these (smaller 55-6-18) and they are wonderful, shall stay with what I like.

Thanks

Nick T

Ps - do you have reflex, if so what are the comparisons between the real machine and the sim version?

Nick,

the Plettenberg has higher inductivity, so you can run your ESC at 9kHz switching frequency. The Kontronik requires 32kHz switching frequency, which results in 4 times higher switching losses in the ESC.

Due to the reduced switching losses, your ESC will stay cool even if you reduce head speed from 2100 to 1500 for longer flight times.

The Kontronik will work well with the Plettenberg, even though Plettenberg recommend the Schulze ESCs with their motors.

I have Reflex, and the 3DMP is pretty realistic.
However, the model seems to mimic the old 5s or 6s setup. The 10s setup has much more power. If you tweak the Reflex XTR parameters, you get a good feeling of the real thing. The parameters that I use are:

gear ratio: 12
max power: 2 kW
motor rpm at max load: 19200

What is the model Plettenburg you guys are using ?
I spoke to Dave at revolution today, he says Jan is reckoning on about 2 weeks ..
When you talk of 10 S what capacity are these?
I hear the new TP3200 cells are due in maybe 4-6 weeks
Will consider 8S1P for my logo (boxed 600-15)
