man iv'e seen some great aerial photos recently from alot of the guys on this forum. Mountains, Forests, Lakes....really nice nature photos!

so my question is, for those of you that do this as a business, what percentage of the business income is from the scenic shots, as opposed to less artistic work (construction, real estate, insurance...)? I am targeting real estate myself just becuse i dont think i could sell scenic shots that i didnt have a contract for already.....are most of you guys taking these shots for personal or artistic reasons, or are you finding a market for them?

thanks guys!

I can give you my experience so far. I shoot only real estate, construction and, occasionally an interesting photo opportunity that usually goes to the local newspapers. Like my shot of the "flag of flowers", or the "milk can building". which can be seen on "My Gallery". The work doesn't come to you , you have to actively seek it out. Once the name and business gets recognized it gets a little easier.

For me, most of the "bill paying" jobs are kind of boring to the average viewer and don't even get posted here.

here's a money shot from 2 days ago...

I have a couple more scheduled this week that are unlikely to be much to anyone except the owner of the land

Has anyone tried submitting aerial photos of scenic places to Corbis.com or someplace where advertising and magazine agencies look for photos ? The photos for use in advertising etc are extremely expensive to purchase and I think the photographer gets 50% of the royalty fees.

I live in a farm state and I have NEVER seen a farm that CLEAN!!!...did they have a cleaning crew come in two days before the pic to make it look better??? I could swear I didn't even see a broken down rusty car sitting in some overgrowth even! Something's not right here!....

the farm is an "after" shot.

the owner works for UBC (United Building Center lumber company) and they just got done refreshing this house with new siding, roof, windows, landscaping. They called me as soon as the road was finished getting re-surfaced. It's so clean it looks fake even in real life

I didn't edit the picture at all except for slight color adjustment.
