hey guys....i aplogize if anyof you read a similar post of mine in the batteries and chargers section, but its been a while and only got one responder and am still stuck.....

i just got a brand new orbit microladder 6.3 pro. it charges the batteries and discharges them fine. i tried to format a 8 cell 3300nimh pack doing one cycle.....

started it at night and in the morning its still charging and says its input over 6000 mah into the pack! the pack is quite warm but not uncomfartable to hold.

did this pack get way overcharged or is this how its supposed to do this?

thanks ....any advice is much apreciated!!

Danno,
When formatting a pack, you should only be using a C/10 rate. If it put that much in over night, that indicates that you are well over C/10.

Try again using C/10. Also make sure that the cell count is correct as that is what determines the voltage (1.45 V x number of cells) that it goes up to before tapering the current down to maintain that voltage.

Formatting takes a long time (about 24 hours per cycle) but it is suppose to.
