what is it with kids,,,,

so my son (15) was on the computer for 4 hours playing games, so I said to him "in 1/2 hour I want to get on", I hear "aaaaa", I said "what did I hear ?", then he starts giving me shi/crap, I said "cheeezzz, you have been on 4 hours, and in a 1/2 hour that will make 4 & 1/2 hours, don't give me crap it's my turn",,, guess who won ,,,,,,,,,,, me,,,

I told him to stop buying games and start saving his money for his own computer,,, and no more $15 game books !!,

I have one of those. Fortunately he's not much of my problem anymore. He's my ex's problem. Still I wish he'd find another hobby/interest.
Since I am 600km away there's not a lot I can do.

I was stupid enough to buy them their own PC last Christmas.

I can relate, my 9 yr old will spend all day on the PC if I let her and if not the PC the TV.

We told her that we put a device on the power to the PC and the TV that monitors how long they have been on and that it will turn off after one hour. So far she believes it.

Sounds like you have a good kid there then, I'm not looking forward to the teenage years.

Guys, these aren't problems, these are opportunities. They are not doing drugs, not getting drunk, and they are learning to use a very valuable tool. Just make them play soccer or some other sport as well.

Sharam has a good point.

It is actually how I view the situation. I have three boys, 14, 13 & 11. At least we know they are safe. Still I'd like to see them have some fun outside in the sun.

I have three daughters and the main problem with our computers is the instant messaging for five hours at a time. My girls can talk to 12 people at a time. There is one good thing that comes out of it I bet they can type 80 words a minute. Its always a fight for dad to be able to fly.
