I have a return spring on my OS32....it springs to open instead of closed!?
makes sense to me, if just means you have to bring it down in idle which isn't hard.

If it switches off, you have to bring it down in auto which for me is harder.

and if that was me id be using that golfclub to smack the b***d if it came in my direction

meh

Didn't someone here have a signature advising you to throw your Tx at your heli if it was out of control

If it was me I'd run like the wind!

Actually the best thing to do is practice your Kung-Fu "grab the coin out of the hand" trick.

Then when someone's heli is out of control you can use your martial art skill to quickly put your arm through the rotor blades and grab the fuel line. Gotta be quick!

If you put a return spring on the throttle would that not cause more wear on the throttle servo ?

was practicing nose in hovering
This is the actual reason he might have crashed the heli and not because
the receiver stopped taking commands
Someone here at Runryder has a saying that goes something like this - if your heli comes at you, throw your radio at it.
Perhaps, he thought that was a good idea and did just that.

A heli flopping around on the ground doing the funky chicken would make good shoot'in practice!

Maybe your friend needs another hobby

Taking such a foolish risk and getting out with only a broken thumb might be a sign...get out before he kills himself.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.... Dennis

the fire extinguisher is a good idea BUT the chem fire extinguishers are HELL on electronics,...may as well put em in the bin when done...on the other hand....a CO2 extinguisher is electronic friendly and may still have the same effect of smothering the heli...I'll have to try it...I got a ton of em laying around... something trivial to think about

Hey the co2 fire extinguisher is a very good idea it will cut off the oxygen and the engine will definutely quit the minute ya spray it we had a turbine engine over at test cell that was having a runaway and we could not shut it down because you would have to go into the room with it so they have a system that spray's a fire extinguisher co2 in to the engine's incoming air and it is not that much and it shut's that dude down pronto' work's very well
