Hello All,

I am interested in building my own camera mount(s) and was curious where you all get your aluminum stock from. Do you procure it locally? Are there internet-accessible vendors that will ship small quantities?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-Kyle

Online Metals.com! I should have guessed that one!

Thanks for your help, both of you. I love forums like this, having knowledgable people readily available is invaluable.

Thanks again,

Do any of you guys think something like arrow shafts would work to frame up a camera mount? I honestly have no idea, but it seems like they might be helpful in the way ov bracing and basic framing...any thoughts? Thanks.

Someone in another thread posted this place: http://www.smallparts.com

They have stuff that mcmaster and onlinemetals don't, like small diameter tubing, both round and square. Prices look very good, too.

This is from their web page :
In 1963 SMALL PARTS INC was formed to meet the needs of organizations that required small quantities of special parts to produce sample items or prototypes. Unwilling to purchase large lots directly from manufacturers, our customers were delighted to find a firm willing to ship small quantities of different sizes and materials. Today we have grown to a full service distribution business that companies have come to rely on for their R&D and production needs.

What Small Parts, Inc has to offer!
• We have no minimum order over our web site!
• Orders under 10 lbs. ship 2nd day for $10.95
