I'm using 9C and want to invest into a new radio . My target is used to be 9Z WCII and now T14MZ is available to the market very soon.

I'm thinking if I should go for 9ZWCII or T14MZ . I read the posts here about T14MZ recently, there are pros and cons .

What would be your choice ? 9ZWCII now or wait a few months for T14MZ

Perhaps, it had been discussed somewhere here (I'm sorry if I had missed it).

Your advice, reponse ........would be helpful

Thanks in advance.

It was pretty well discussed in the two 14MZ threads.

One individual had what I thought was an excellent point:

Why be the beta tester?

I personally would not purchase one (as stated in the prior post) because my 9CHP does everything I want it to do. But I am not a world class pilot. I just fly around. There are some that perhaps could use some different mix, or just like the pretty pictures the large color monitor makes, or just have to have the newest. Whatever floats your boat.

Whatever your reasons, it is still just releaed. I would wait until some bugs are worked out if I just had to have it.

Perosnally I am going to purchase the new 9 that is synthesized. I believe I will get a lot more practicality being able to change frequencies using the same Tx module and the same Rx and not having to slide new crystals in and out of the Rx.

Best Regards, Dario

Definately go for the T14MZ. Once you have it you will have the top of the line. If you get the 9Z I think you will be finding that later on you will be wishing you got the T14MZ.

9Z is more Radio than most of us will everuse.

Spend $800 on a 9Z transmitter, buy another Helicopter with the difference if you just have to spend $2300.

Here is a PM sent to me. I was mis-informed about the new Futaba and wanted to clear up my last post:
Anyway just wanted to let you know, that the 14MZ is not a radio that was developed in the last couple of months. Futaba has been working on it and testing in for a couple of years.
Great PM.

Best Regards, Dario

The T14MZ will surely be nice to have, but as someone already stated, unless you want "pretty pictures" or the newest, most tech advanced system, there really isn't a need for it ... specially for model helis dong 3D.

The only applications that I can think of, where a T14MZ would be actually useful is in scale applications.

I have a 9zwc2 and there really isn't anything that I can think of that can't be done with it ... of course I can think of ways to improve it (at least to my likings), but the core functionality by far exceeds customer demands.

Thanks Galifrey

I have ALWAYS flown Futaba, and think they are a great company. The new radio is not a beta version at all as I was thinking. I do stand very corrected.

I still don't think I have a need for it (I may be wrong about that too). That's just me. I can see where people who fly a WHOLE lot better than me could use some of the new features, or scale pilots having much more latitude for their scale ships: one thing for sure, the color screen is really cool. I know,, I saw it a week or so ago out here. Kind of like HDTV in the palm of your hand

radio features

I have a 9z wc and I love it! I will admit that over the last few years I have deleted and inhibited most of the features. I use heading hold all the time, so I never want any interaction such as revo mix , tail rotor curves ect. I use a gV-1 so my throttle curves aren't as critical anymore, a simple V is fine. I have gone to setting up all my helis with a straight line pitch curve in all modes. I kept moving the side flippers by mistake so I went through all the machines and all the flight modes and shut them off. I do love being able to do anything like switch changes ect. but I would rather see the radio guys just give us premium gimbles and switches and a durable case for the money than more features.

Most people here seem to have a much more powerful transmitter than strictly necessary anyways. Mostly for the bling I guess. So you would be no exception if you went ahead and got this T14!
I think most of us would have enough with an 8UPS.. In fact I could do with a FF6 if I had a governor installed in my machine... Without I like to have 5 point throttle curves

Well put. The ONLY reason I'm not flying my trusty 8U is that I couldn't pass up the deal I got on my 9Z.

By all means, get the T14.

The more folks who buy one means the better the chances of a price reduction on the 9Z.

I'd like to pick up a NIB spare 9Z...

When I started to practicing piro flips recently, I found it was time to have more precise control on the radio. I think I need to have different seting after I installed GY601 to my raptor 50. for instances GYRO sens could be set differently for flying F3C , 3D or just fly for fun ........

It may be preferrable to have different setings for different idle curves. 9ZWCII could handle it ................ and now we have t14mz......

or wait for a while to see if the price of 9ZWCII would be reduced after T14MZ was launched........

The frame rate of an ATX Stylus at 1024 is almost identical to the T14MZ at twice the resolution of 2048. JR has the slowest frame rates in the business and the 9Z is slightly better, but it is better and updates all the channels on every frame. A scope will tell the tale. Hashimoto used the Stylus due to the frame rate in PCM mode versus the 9Z. There is a noticeable difference between the 9Z and the Stylus whether anyone wants to admit it or not, in terms of pure system response speed.

The T14MZ may not win any prizes because of Win CE or the color touch screen. Maybe the MP3 player doesn't exactly crank your tractor but if the servos improve to handle the higher resolution and the system speed is there, the top pilots using lesser equipment won't want to concede the technical advantage, the top pilots won't be paying for the radio anyway and some folks will just have to have it for the 14 channels or just the bling factor.

I'm a tried and true ATX fan myself, but I give Futaba full marks for this radio and their complete range of accessories, like their gyro systems, the GV-1 and now a complete line of chargers to go with their radios.

One thing about it, the gloves are off and Futaba has raised the bar. I think this is good for all of us.
