Hi there..

i have a 3300mah NiMH Rx pack.....

R50V2 bird with 4 9252's a 401 and 9254.

My question is what should i do to keep my battery in the best condition?

I fly once a week, and 2-4 tanks in a day.

I estimate at least 5 safe flights with the 3300.

my question is, should i:

a) fly 2, then just leave Rx over the week and fly it again the next week?

b) fly 2 - 4 tanks, discharge to 4.4V and do a full charge before the next weeks flying?

or

c) fly 2-4 tanks, and simply charge her up before the next weeks fliying?

Cheers,

Loz

The answer is C.

NiMh does not need to be recycled as does NiCd.

Fly your NiMh until the "loaded" battery voltage shows around 4.9-5.0V, then charge.

Some people do recycle NiMh every so often. Won't hurt, but be sure not to let the cell voltage drop below 0.9v per cell (3.6V total). For extra safety, you may not want to go below 1.0V per cell (4.0v total).

Best Regards, Dario

Hey Loz, you should

c) fly 2-4 tanks, and simply charge her up before the next weeks flying?

I would also cycle the pack once every month.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I'm with Patrick. You don't HAVE to cycle NiMH, because of the memory issue. But you DO need to cycle any battery, if you want to see it's capacity, and verify that your charging technique is sound.

I'm of the belief that cycling is not needed for NiMh packs. I only cycle to check capacity.

Here is another option, get out during the week for another flight or two!

hahah i wish! :-)

i'm just new, and i prefer having more experienced people around me...

so i fly when they fly :-)

but yeah.. i guess that just measnt eh 1 cycle to check the capacity.. when you check capacity, do you check to 1.1V per cell?
