Outside of installing a belt drive does anyone have a remedy to make the gears on the Shogie more quiet? I don't think mine are any louder than most of yours and I have put some Teflon powder on them(like the stuff they put on the axels etc. of pine box derby cars) with no significant results. Can anyone recommend a jam or jelly or something to make this chopper a little more stealth? The ultimate would just to be able to hear the puurrrrr of the rotors themselves only.

belt drive will be quieter, but why be bothered with the sound? if u do find a way to enclose the gears and slap in some lubricant to silent the bugger, u will loose quite a bit of power with all the drag

You might consider wrapping the heli in 12-24 inches of foam insulation; that will quiet it down considerably. (I haven't tried this myself...)

Proper gear mesh is a must. I also believe in coating the pinion with small amount of lithium grease. I noticed significant wear on the brass pinion after 60 flights (600 min.) After replacing the pinion and lubricating it with Li grease, the wear on the brass pinion has been minimized. The stock white drive shaft gear only showed minimum wear, outlasting the bass gear. As long as the gear mesh is perfect, I think the stock gear is alright

To reduce the noise from your driveshaft, try the aluminum shaft from Sparrowproducts.com. Make sure you use green loctite to secure the shaft to the inner race of your boom bearings. I think the #1 cause of noises is the loose fit of the shaft to the bearings. Give it a try. It has worked for me very well.

Please define a proper gear mesh?? I'm having a heck of a time getting my gears right. I dont want too but I am considering selling this damn thing. I seem to be spending more time working on it than flying.
