My buddy made these grips for me. They are CNC billet aluminium and streched 20mm. He sells them for 85$ a pair. He also has longer belts to allow 600mm blades, strecthed grips, and 95mm tail blades for $22. You will need to use a shortened JR Vigor boom.

BTW: The heli is a custom using R50 mechanics and a YS91 spinning 680 blades. It weighs 9.1 lbs.

Turbo,

How do you think the Raptor 50V2 with an OS 50 would perform with the longer boom and these blade grips. I assume they would give me the equivalent of having 620mm blades on each side. Will 620mm blades load the engine too much?

This does sound like an interesting experiment. I am interested in getting a set of these grips and the belt.

PM me with more details please .

Ledfoot,

The answer your PM:

You need to Dremel the holes for the tail housing. The standard Vigor (non-CS) boom already has slots for the main frame side. I don't know the exact length.

Ringding, Colorado is high in the mountains(5000ft ????) above sea level, where a 30 helicopter will be a slug. But I'll bet that 91 does pretty well! TurboStew, nice work!

question...

Are the streched grips only to gain rotor size?

Are you using the stock spindle?

If so...I have a suggestion...longer spindle and separate the bearings in the grip more.

Interested in more technical info...

Because of the 91 and 680 blades, I am using a stock sized custom 4130 Chromoly shaft. The grips are made for a standard R50 shaft.

I have seen this heli fly and it is not all that it is cracked up to be. my sceadu 50 with 600v's and a muscle pipe 1 is faster cyclic and collective response. Kent you put 680 blades on your raptor? so what's the difference from a raptor 60 with a 90 in it? that is all you have now is a raptor 60 with a 90 in it.

Although I disagree with Dstjohn's definition of performance, he is right. When he saw it fly it was on 600mm blades and geared wrong, it was highly disc loaded. Small prop and lots of pitch makes for a fast machine but low on the collective pop (won't come out of the hole hard). It was in its environment for high speed big 3D. With the now low disk loading, it has very agressive collective. The cyclic response is now fast with the long 4mm flybar and big V-paddles. Much lighter than a R60-90.

Yes, a lot of Voyager design went in it.
