Hey All! What is the maximum charge rate for any given Mah LiPo
battery? I've heard never charge any LiPo over 1000Mah regardless of the rating and I have heard charge them at or just below the rating.
I've been charging my batteries at about 200-300Mah below their rating the first few charges when they are new then charge them at or just below their rating. I know charging them slower will extend the lifespan of the battery but that set aside what are your thoughts?

Depends...

Read the instructions that came with the pack.
Some say .5C others (most) say not more than 1C

For example take a 1000mah LiPo pack.
.5C would be .5 amp
1C would be 1 amp

I would not EVER recommend charging above 1C for a LiPo.

Thanks Jason, with that said, wouldn't let's say a 2100mah pack take forever to charge? and do you discourage charging above 1amp because of the potential fire hazard or damage to the battery or both?
I've benn charging at the listed rate of my packs for awhile and they don't even get warm. I've had one explosion but that was with a 2 cell pack and I was charging a 3 cell pack on the other side so maybe that
had something to do with it. Scared the bejesus out of me I barely got it out of the house after the sudden swell before she blew right outside my front door in the flower bed(killing most of the foilage contained therein). I do not wnat to repeat that EVER!

Charging at 1C equal charging at 1 times pack capicity. If your 2100 are rated to charge at 1C then they would be charged at 2.1 amp. 1C charge rate will alway equal 1 hour. Charging at .5C would be 1.05 amp and take 2 hours.

For example, my 1500mah are rated to be charged at 1C. So I charge at 1.5 amps and it takes an hour.

Hope this makes less confusion.

I also looked for an answer to this question.
I didn't see anyone suggesting over 1C rate. It seems that 1C is the highest safe charge rate you can go.
I also asked if there was any benefit to charge them below 1C and didn't get any pozitive answer. However, it would be wise to use less than 1C for the first couple charges. It would be a good start for a new pack.
So unless the manual says differently, you can charge them at 1C rate.
My stock Evoflight pack is 1600mah but the manual strictly suggests max charge rate of 1.4amp, so I do what they say.
I've heard never charge any LiPo over 1000Mah regardless of the rating
This statement cannot be true, then 5000mah pack would take 5 hours to charge. So say you got Fury Ion, then just forget about it.
