Yea. I think I'll give this one a shot. I gave Ron a pretty decent run last time. This time though I'm gonna bring heavier artillery

new guy going to fun fly?

I am a new heli guy and was wondering if going to an event like this I would be welcome. I have a raptor version 1 that might be flyable I haven't flown it yet but the guy I bought it from did. I am also building a raptor version 2 and might have it ready by then. Do they help people like me at these events are or they for the more experienced. I wouldn't wont to be a bother to any one but thought it might be fun to participate some how. I also realize that when people go to these events they don't want to be bothered so thought I would ask maybe I will be ready by the one after this one .

If you would wand to make the trip out the the north side of Houston we could arrange to meet up at the outlaw field one day. Just PM me and we could arrange a time.

wingride47, I am also new to the hobby and made a trip to IRCHA 2005 in Muncie, In. During the event I meet a great group of RC Heli nuts which gave me a wealth of info and even furthered my passion for this sport. I believe you will find the same at most any well organized and supported event.

To answer your question about needing help on the Raptor I chatted it up with Michael who has an awesome web site dedicated to helping setup Raptor’s. It is http://www.raptortechnique.com .

Anyone flying electrics in Houston? Give me a shout I will be setting up a T-rex and Logo 10 with JR 9303 over the next weeks and may need some help.

I haven't heard if any scale ships are going to be there or not. Bring it out, I'm sure people would like to see it. I'm going to build a scale rig pretty soon. I'm still getting over losing my turbine a couple weeks ago.

first fun fly

Well looks like Saturday will be a day of first for me. First fun fly, First time to run my Raptor 30v.1. first time to meet alot of you people from RR. Maybe if my instructor gets time my first flight lesson/hover practice on same. My instructor will be attending and flying Saturday so I will for sure be there on Sat if nothing else just to watch him fly. He is a serious FAI 3d pilot and really good at it. Might get to go on Friday and Sun. as well. Due to unexpected work and never being home anymore the Raptor version 2 wont be ready. I am only up to step 6 in the manual this evening so I think I will shelve it till next week when I will have all week to finish it. As a newbie I wont be flying so if you guys need a volunteer to work the fun fly I am available. Fly Huge you going to bring your elect ricks ? I am going to bring a couple of mine I think. Hope to see and meet you all there.

Today was the big day. Of course Ron Lund won the auto contest. Nathan got knocked out in the 2nd round. Chris Lee came in 2nd and Scott Moss got 3rd. In the Drag Race Mark Conroy got 1st, Ron Lund got 2nd, and Scott Moss was in 3rd Again. So far we have 35 pilots. We still have some pilot prizes left and a Tiger 50 in the raffle. There is also a JR gyro and a Throttle Jockey with a Tachometer in the raffle. The 1st winner will choose from those prizes. So come out Sunday an give it a shot. Tickets are 1 for $!, 6 for $5, and 13 for $10.
