Hi Guys,

I just want to share some pictures of my new Joker CX in the air.

This Joker is a CX version with all standard equipment of actro 24-4 and actronic ESC. I also have the TP 10SP4 8000Mha.

I flew the heli to perfection and the temps where very low on controller, batteries and the motor. I haven't try any 3D but I am planning to do so. I heard all the stories about actronix controller and i will like to ask to the experts in the panel what should I do? should I switch to other controller? which one and where can i get it.

Ahhhh? at what rpm are you running on the head for the CX? I was at 1680.

Regards,

Gonzalo

My CX in the air!!!

P.S. I nearly forgot,

I did have problems with the Actronic 24-4 and now use a Schulze 32-55 that so far has been ultra reliable with very low temps.

Gonzalo,

I am going to be purchasing lipos in the near future for my Joker and the research I have found says that the actronic controller will fail not if but when with lipos. I think there are a few guys who seem to have been lucky, but the majority have had failures. It seems that it is just a high probability with that controller. There is a new Kontronik controller that Gerd is now recommending, I think Joe Howard could tell you the product number. In addition, as mentioned above, the schulze 32.55 seems to be working very well for the guys who are using it.

Thanks

Charles

If you like the Schulze 32.55 then buy a 32.55K with cooling head.
I was in the past not so happy with the Schulze, in the standard mode the speed control is pumping, in the "expert" mode (the old standard mode) the tail is nervous and swings in one inch amplitudes to both sides. Also in comparison to the actronic it seems that the flight time is shorter, don´t ask me why. In the new 40/160H they have damped now the expert mode to about 50% between the old extremes. I hope they will add it in future to the smaller ones also.
The Kontronik Jazz 55-10-32 has at present definetely the best speed control, runs smooth under different load, keeps cold and is comfortable to setup. It was tested under hard 3D-conditions with no failure. The only small disadvantage is the limitation of 10 cells (but I mean this is enough), for pilots needing 12 cells or more the Schulze is the first (and only) choice, see it as a controller for the whole life (except you damage it in a crash), it has about the double price. Electronics say the production of the full cooper PCB board is so extremely expensive.

Hi Gonzalo,

Great choice of electric heli. You will love the Joker. Do a search here on Lipos and the actronic and make your own decisions. I "invested" in a 40.160 and I love it. Starts everytime, never gets hot, spins the snot out of the 24-4 and just simply works. I would look into the jazz controller that Gerd is talking about as well. If he says it works, than you can trust him.

The actronic 70-32 will die with 10s Lipos when you start 3D work. It will overheat, end of story. Make sure you can auto the machine when you are ready to test it. It's just a matter of time. If you can keep your flights VERY short it may survive but what fun is that?

Enjoy the machine. It is a fantastic product.

Gerd, at higher RPMs using the 20tooth pinion and running the head at over 1850rpms, the standard mode works quite well on my 40.160. The expert mode was too sharp. I think the higher motor rpm/higher gearing has a way of not working the governor so much. Of course if you keep over amping it on the manuevers it will always hunt.

Al,
I cannot belive it that it works better than the Kontronik and the Schuze, I will test one, the Jockey is a cheap part, and you will hear from me when ready. But I cannot hear or feel any breakdowns during big deflections with the Jazz. Let us see what happens.

John,
the art is a good speed control on half throttle/lower rpm when less torque is on the system, with full throttle the most esc are working well.

I'd stay away from Chris at FineDesignRC. He doesn't know the products that he sells, and is more interested in making money off you than helping you out. Also, I've ordered from him twice, and both times he overcharged me and I had to fight to get the credit. Life's too short, buy elsewhere.
