Hi All,

Any suggestions for a good small receiver in my Zoom?
Is PPM ok,or should i put a PCM in it because of the electronics?

Thanks,
Marcel

PCM rxs tend to be alittle large and heavy. I have a PCM 8103 that I run in PPM mode with a JR FM 700 RX and Deans ant. No problems at all. I know there are smaller and lighter rxs, but I have never had a JR fail me. ALWAYS tape a JR rx crystal in though.

JR R700 7ch Mini Rx PPM

My JR crystal is in a holder that all plugs into the reciever...very tight fit so I dont see a need to tape it in place.

What transmitter will you be using, PCM does not work between different manufacturers, I am using Futaba 7c with my R700.

CrashExpert,

I lost a raptor 70 because the crystal vibed out. A simple peice of scotch tape would have saved several hundred dollars. After that event, I recommend the tape everyone. My JR crystal was in the JR holder too. I have read other post here on RR about crystal vibing out. So wouldn't a 3/8" piece of Scotch tape maybe be worth saving a crash? I think so, especially since I manager to crash enough on my own, without help from outside factors.

Please don't take my above post wrong, I'm not trying to shove my ideas down anyone throat. I just happen to feel strongly about that one. In short nothing to be taken wrong, please.

JR 610 ultralight....well the 610 ultralight is backordered...just pull the case off a regular 610 and heat shrink....can even pull the plastic off the crystal by slicing down with safety blade if you really want to get picky BTW you may want to save the case for reference of plug direction and locations....also if you put the crystal in b4 heat shrink, that will securely hold it in.

Tape on the Reciever

I have been doing this for a long time.... if it can shake loose a heli will show you how to do it.... I don't think there should be any reason for you to feel you did anything wrong by giving a little "secret" away....
Good tip...... now go have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too am using a JR700...

I just don't see how you guys are using a cheapy $20 RX like the GWS ones that are well known for their glitchs. I won't use them in my $50 foamy airplanes let alone a Shogun that I have $600 invested.

I'm using the tiny FMA receiver in my Shogun - dual conversion, haven't had a glitch since I installed it, unlike the Berg that I had previously...

I am running BERG-5 dsp II and have had no problems and its dual conversion and about as light as you can get.

Kevin

Edit: I screwed up ya'll. It isn't dual conversion. My M5 is though!

I'm using the berg as well. No case, just the heat shrink stuff to loose a few grams.

JR 600

JR 600 here minus the case and shrinkwrapped. Double sided tape with nylon tie for insurance. Works great.

I had a GWS dual con in mine, but my cul-de-sac where I fly is very noisy electrically, and I was having constant glitch problems... went to a Hitec, which is better, but I really should have gotten the Berg, everyone sez they are the best in noisy environments.
