Was wondering what frame rates people are getting with their equipment and XTR software,
I get 15fps on mine and this seems O.K., but I assume people are getting better. I have a P4, 512 memory and a Geo5900 card,
any advice in getting the XTR to run faster.
Thank you,
JH

My Reflex cable should be arriving in the mail this week. But, I have the software and have been watching the recorded flights to gauge my system's performance. I had an old Diamond Stealth 32MB card - terrible performance - MAYBE 7fps. So choppy that it looked like a slide show.

After doing some research, I found that my 4yr old MOBO is AGP 4x compatible. So, I bought and installed a Radeon 9800 Pro. The rest of my components are Athlon XP 1700+ (1.4GHz), 512 RAM.

I'm now getting between 160-270fps. It rocks!

Hello Buster1

make sure you have your sim setup to run in full screen mode with v-sync off depending on your monitor you should be able to run the sim at 1024x768

Thanks

framerate

Definitely much better, getting around 100fps.

Another question, when it I put in full screen, I got an error message and the the program just reset itself. So, I still may not be getting the full benefit of the program

Also, I must go into the screen resolution first and change to 1024*728 before the program will work. Have you seen this before and is there are correction for this. I have seen some info. on sites where guys have had this problem and this seems to be the only fix - changing back and forth between screen res, before and after using the program.

Its seems that at around 100fps, its very good, but maybe I am still not where it should be - the screen still gets slightly choppy at times in between the smoothness at this rate. But the sim. is definitely good at this rate.

Thank you,
JH
The sim is great, best on market, but there is definitely a learning curve to get it right and find people who have put time into model settings.

Hi JH

I think anything over 30fps should run smoothly.

I've got an Athlon 2.8 512meg ram & 5900XT which runs at 60fps with v-sync on.
I get the same frame rate drop, going down to 17fps now and again from 60.I've put it down to one of my programs accessing the net.
I have a couple of programs running calculations, and if i don't shut them down then the frame rate drops down.

100fps should be fine.

Mal.

p4

p4 2.4. 1 gig ram, ati 9500 pro, v sync at 85 fps because of lcd monitor or it would get better but its great at 85 fps. only trouble is i also get it dropping occasionally to 17 fps as well. I don't run it in full screen mode.
