I want to make a transition to a gas helicopter. Are they really reliable engines? Start it and fly it? I have looked into the Predator, would that be a good choice? I want to be able to do 3D with it so it must be more manuverable then the Benzin trainer from Vario. Would apreciate any tips you can give me.

I've been flying the Predator gasser this past summer and I absolutely love it. No bad habits, good power, sturdy.... And yes, it is quite 3D capable. 120 degree CCPM with digital servos insure very quick cyclic and collective response.

Plus it's cheap to keep as the spare parts are the lowest cost of any gasser on the market.

Do yourself a favor and do a search on this topic.....there's a wealth of information here. It's almost a personal preference......

Good luck, you'll love the way they fly!

Personal experience

I have built up several Predator gassers myself, and have been pleased with the outcome and performance on every one. As for ability to "play", they certainly are capable machines. I would suggest some items to consider when building it up......all little stuff that makes it even more reliable and functional.

Alex,
Since you have just registered (today), don't list a location and just PM'ed me saying you are a Jetcopter owner and want to know details about my Jetcopter that I have no intention of giving out, how abouts you follow the suggestion of the post above and do a search on gasser's.

Alexs...

Try Dr. Tim for questions about the jetcopters. He knows a lot about these things....

There is also a forum for them in RR. I am sure those guys will be happy to help you out.

Yo dude! I havent owned and flown any other gasser except the Predator SE W/ g-26. Hooh boy, what a machine! Super smooth, easy starting, powerfull, agile, etc, etc. I have owned and flown many brands of glow machines, a gasser is a bit differant. The decision is definately a personnal one, as other gassers are good too. Tell ya what though, if you do go with a Predator, you wont be sorry.

Well the same goes for me having owned and flown only one, the Pred SEGA I must say it's the sweetest! Starts great, flys like its on rails and hovers smoooth ! The savings on fule cost are great to be sure even using the" high cost"camp fuel.

TSK! TSK! They don't make them anymore but I still get a kick out of flying mine. Just a little afraid to go to crazy with it as I can no longer get parts. After that I would have to say a Bergen Gasser would do it for me.

thank you very much for all the info. I think I will go towards a predator. How are the vibrations with the gas engines?? would you say they are much more user firendly then the glow engines??? I live in Panama and its very hot and humid here. I never get the same performance and always kind of strugle with the glow engines. I just want something I can take out of my car, kick it on and fly it!

Alexs0802, thats the reason I went to a gasser. Glow engines, due to the volativity of nitro, are always a pain in the a$$. My opinion is those glow powerplants equate to at least half the problems associated with getting your heli to fly like you want it to. My G-26, in 84 flights, never flamed out, or even hiccuped. I did go with an aftermarket pickup clunk for the tank, the kind that is a filter and sucks from the entire perimeter. The fan that comes with the Predator is HUGE, and moves a lot of air. I set my needles to 1 3/8 on the high and low, and never touched tham at all after that. It ran great, and the conditions that I flew it in were differant. If ya do go with a gasser, burn camp fuel in it. Good luck!

why camp fuel, what the advantages and cost wise?

It was in the air, but now it's on the ground. :)

The Predator is a good choice. I have seen them fly (and have flown one).

If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase the Pradator. I currently have an X-Cell Gasser and had a Bergen. MA just came out with their new 3D gasser.

But the Predator meets a good price point (value) and peforms incredibly well.

I am not sure about replacement parts, but I would think the Predator's parts are less expensive than the MA products or Bergen. That's something you would have to do some research on. I'd be interested in knowing if you find out.

Best Regards, Dario

Hi there, I have an dinosore Kalt GasBaron with a KG 22S ( 23cc zenoah) and out here in the middle east it flys great even at 44 c!.just lift off a little on the rich side and they just go and go.
I use 40;1 castrol tts and no worries. no lead is best for fuel.... avoid dirty piston etc.
Pred will be my next gas burner.

One more question about the Predator.
How big is the difference between the Predator Gasser SE Kit W/ Z260H Hanson Modified or the standard Predator Gasser w/ Z231H Engine? I know there is a price difference but what about power and vibration differences??

I would like input on scale applications of Predator. Have previously owned a Benzin, trying to decide on new venture and exploring all avenues before buying another Benzin. Thanks
