It would appear then that the best solution w/o fuss is the Hatori 37 muffler designed for the Caliber.

Terry, what was the issue with the Fun Tec? Given your profession, it must have been serious.

The Funtech 50 size has a unique mounting bracket that won't clear the 37 mounting beams.

Is anyone using a MP2? I’m going to get a new pipe in the next weeks and I’m trying to decide what to get.

Hi all I bought the muffler for the Toki 40H from MRC. It is totally fit and forget awesome! Top end power did increase some over the maveric 50 muffler I started it on. But the iddle and low to mid transition was the bigest noticeable improvement. No extention plate nedded,it just bolted on and cleared the fuel tank. I like it as much as the Zimmerman. It does have a different sound than the Zimm. coast half as much.

Mike,

That's good news, a good muffler on the cheap.

The Toki is larger in volume than the Maveric 50 muffler. It is longer by about 4inches but the same dia. It was $46.00 with shipping from MRC/Altech. It only gives aprox. 10 % more power on the top end but allows the OS37 to run smoother. I had fuel foaming with the Maveric and with only changing to the Toki it stoped.

Does "different sound" than the Zimmerman mean that the Toki is "tingier" or otherwise louder? The stock Caliber muffler is somewhat restrictive, but it's going to be like cutting off my arm to remove it if it creates a model which no longer has the wonderful sound it has right now.

Do you have the ability to post a pic of the Toki muffler?

Not louder just rather high pitch ting and only at mid to full throd. On the bench it is verry quiet.I like the sound of the Zimmermon better and it will probubly last longer, (the mounting screws on the alumm. mufflers tend to strip out). And the power curve is slightly different. The Zimmerman is stronger from about 1/2 to 3/4 stick but they are the same on the top.

I see that the mav 50 pipe works on the OS .37 , has anybody tried the MP2 50 size on the .37? Just courious if compadable with the powerband of the .37

The KSJ Competition 30 pipe is bigger than the Mav 50 pipe and performs better.

Do you recommend that over a MP30Q?

I would try the MP2Q. I have a feeling it will make good power. The KSJ is about $20 more than the MP2. Besides, the KSJ doesn't fit the Cal without a custom machine spacer. The muffler that is probably the least expensive is the Toki and I haven't tested it yet.
