gearbox

I had drilled and tapped 6mm hole in my gearbox on the bottom so I could add grease. Never had a problem with sand getting in it. Maybe the tail rotor wash blows it away??

Is the open gear box going to be standard in future kits or will it always be an upgrade?

I am guessing it will become standard as soon as all needs are taken care of. As I beleive this was designed to take care of the problem some have with the tail box stripping out. So it would only make good sense to make it part of the new kits once the supply of older units is gone. But I could be wrong about that. I am guessing that one of the things holding this up as an upgrade is MA's desire to get the Specrta G out. As this is the box that will be in that kit. That or they are having some parts supply issues. Could be a combo of both. But who knows.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

If those hurricanes didn't rip through there, they wouldn't have an excuse to delay it any longer....I think it pushed them back another 6 WEEKS!!! ...its a painful wait.

Just curious, but is everyone waiting to get these to fly their helis? I am not trying to be a butthead, but mine still fly without this little gem. And is not dependent on it. I understand most of you guys want one. But you can still enjoy your models without it can't you? I am just kicking back and waiting to see what happens. I will not be in the first group to get one of these anyway. I will let all of the eager beavers get them to be the test bed. But until then, I will still enjoy them the way they are. SO I say stop waiting, and start flying. They will be here soon enough. Meanwhile there are blue skys to tear the crap out of!

I need a tail box in order to fly. I had enough parts to build an Extreme laying around with the exception of the t/r gearbox. I don't think anyone needs to sit around and wait to see if it's going to work. I'm not trying to be a butthead either, but maybe you should of practiced your wait and see approach on those rods that failed you a while back...

I called yesterday and they said it should be avail. anytime now.

Not funny, but perhaps you are right. Yours is a unique situation though. I was simply commenting on some of the guys that seem a little pissed that they can't get one RIGHT NOW. Which is a little odd if their models fly. I still just fly mine and enjoy it. That is when it is in one piece. When it comes out, then you will be able to try it. No need to wait though. Have fun with the heli now. I know I will.
