Hey All!

I was curious! Can the G2 simulator be tuned where it hovers more
like the real thing? Even though I learned how to hover by my G2.
There is a buddy of mine at my field who is just starting out, and he got him a G2 sim, to practise on. Even though I can keep it still, it is true that the real thing is easier to hover.
I was just curious if the G2 can be fine tuned just a heir.

Thanks,
Richard

wouldnt worry about it

I think it is good that the sim is harder because when it comes time to fly the real deal. it calms your nerves when you realise that it is actually quite stable and is easier to fly . I actually have trouble flying the sim and keeping a steady hover now after the real thing .

Try low rates, the switch above the collective. I have found it very much like my nexus. But he's right, its harder to fly the sim than the real thing.

The sim is harder to hover simply because the 3d clues are not there, and the heli will often pick up some speed before you can even recognize it, let alone react. Requires yuou to be very proactive. On the real thing, more clues are available so the beginings of a move are seen earlier and reacted to sooner. The reflexes developed on the sim pay off by making the real thing seem easy by comparison.

My 2 cents

Elmote is correct. If ,however, you get yourself some 3D glasses, you
will then better be able to pick up slight movements before you start to accelerate.

Not to mention field of view, and resolution.

The simulator does not allow you to see the level of detail, or in as broad of a field of view as you can when actually flying.

I can see, and correct minute changes in attitude when flying the real thing, that I could never see when flying the simulator.

G2 with ADDONS 3-Raptor 30!!

A friend generously let me try his Raptor30 on trainer gear after I was on G2 a week, I also found the sim harder, I hovered his ok (a little shaky, but the sim helps the nerves, you at least realize some basics)but I found out what I needed to work on with the sim and have been practicing.
My Raptor30v2 is on the truck on its way!

Hover and FF is harder on the SIM......FFF and the rest is easier on the SIM than in real life...this is just because when you get there you'll need huge ballzz to do the stuff you do on the SIM

You got that right, i don't know how many millions of dollars of helis i've put in trying to do a decent piroloop on the sim.

Not even going to try it with a heli for many many moons

You can say that again.

On the SIM I can tic-toc, piro flip, chaos.

On the real thing I can FFF, loop and, er um, that's it

I found that after learning FFF, the SIM is just too safe and I only really progress now with burning real fuel.

Yep...ballzz and also in the sim, the engine is perfectly tuned, blades track and TC and PC are all set for 3D....in real life, a bad setup can hover and ff...but can it do 3D?

i just borrowed g2 from a buddy and i would never pay 200 bucks for that, it dont feel like real flight too me, you cant even see the heli if you try to fly around its only good for hovering for me, i like my free FMS much better at least you can see what the heli is doing

G2 Simulator with parallel vs. USB port interface?

Guys,
I'm a newbie and would like to get a G2. I would like to ask your opinion if there's a big difference in using a G2 with an interface using the parallel port vs. USB port. I think the G2 parallel port interface is cheaper than the other one but based on feedback the response is slower than G2 with the USB interface.

Both models are being offered in e-bay.

Thanks for the comments.

Parallel port

Spitfire_mk5,

The parallel port I'm referring is an interface that will connect the transmeter to PC using the port for the printer.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have the older parallel port version.Although the USB version allows faster data transfer, I cannot notice any delay with the version that I have. The only advantage with the interlink is that you don't have to use your own transmitter if you don't want to.

the real heli can be a little more touchy depending on how you set it up. If you have a raptor in real life, just modify the settings by lighting up the paddles until it fells like your real heli.
