I have had a noise develop in my EVO that I can't seem to find. Maybe soemone has had similair noises and can offer me some advice.

The noise sounds like a bad bearing,a high pitched wawa (almost 100% of the time the noise is present) and only is evident at high RPM (around 1750-1800). In normal mode 1550 RPM no noise. I have checked all the bearings and they operate smoothly. I pulled the main gear and individually rotated all components...smooth. The only thing I did notice is alot of backlash between the clutch gear and the main gear but I figure under load this isn't a problem.

Could this noise just be gear noise? What about the Delrin Gear upgrade? Will this help?

Thanks in advance.

Tailblades.

I had an extremely similar problem a couple weeks ago.
It would only present itself in ID1 and while flying.
I replaced the MAH tailblades I had on there with some Freya blades and it quit.
I could find NOTHING else wrong with the heli during the whole 2 week ordeal.

I'm running the MAH s too. I'll try it, maybe one is delaminating or something. I'll keep you posted. Thanks

I had same noise a while back. It turned out to be worn out plastic gears. Replaced the tail counter gear and the tail drive gear and all was fine again. You could go for the high dollar delrin ones and not have to worry about it anymore or spend the few bucks for the plastic ones knowing they will last you about 50 gallons.

Will it help with (sticky) lube for the gears to get rid of the noise?

Do you know the P/Ns for the Delrin Gears?

you really only want the 1 smaller Delrin gear.

414169 COUNTER GEAR 17T FREYA TUBE DRIVE 16.15

is it. The Freya and Evo share a number of parts.

No, no grease or lubrication either.

Did you get it sorted - i have a similar high pitch screatching sound but only when fully spooled up to speed, also not present when doing auto's or just hitting throttle hold.

Ash,
I replaced the counter gear with the Delrin one and 90% of the noise disappeared. I've ordered the delrin main gear and hope this solves the problem.

My Sceadu quite quickly developed a high-pitched noise when being spooled up and the cure I used was to change the original plastic DTDS gear to the 0412-168 "SD DTDS SET" Delrin gear. No more noise! The gear noise went from unbearable screeching, even from quite a distance, to dead silence.

Well it sounds like an order for delrin gears. It just sounds so painfull, like gladerman says, I replaced all the bearings etc. but still no joy.

Sorted - Just replaced the main gear - the big one and all the noise has gone - I can't believe that this would have made all that noise but it did. Just going to see how long it last now.

Yeah, But the Delrin one is like $30.00. I wnent this route since I didn't want to replace the nylon one again after just a few gallons.
