Had my first crash yesturday and it was a good one! I've got a pile of parts to replace. I bent the spindle shaft (think thats what its called, the shaft that the blade grips screw onto) and now I can't get the grips off. I've undone the screw on both sides but I can't pull the grip off, the shaft is bent pretty badly so maybe it's binding on the bearings. Any ideas on how to get it off? The screw that holds the ball on both blade grips sheared off I'm not sure I can get it off so the grips might be replaced also. Also this is my first crash so anything I should look for or check?

check your main shaft aswell, check all the servos to see if you stripped any gears, have a good look over the entire heli, ball links etc.. to see if any are damaged. Dont worry about crashing it happens to everyone.

Bad luck on the crash, but it happens

Chances are that your main shaft is damaged, they usually get bent if the spindle shaft goes. Also check that all of your servos are smooth and haven't lost gear teeth in the crash. On my Raptor's last crash the cyclic gears were both stripped.

can't pull the grip off,
Use a puller that you can purchase from an auto or hardware store.

thanx

thanx for the replies

I was able to finally get the blade grip off but ended up damaging the bearing do it but oh well. I went today and got all the replacements it only came to $78 bucks so it wasn't as bad as I thought.

cjw, that's exactly what the local heli expert said the crash kit came with a main shaft.

the landing skids were bent but the guy at the hobby shop said I could bend them back almost straight and save a few bucks, does that sound right?

The servo arm on the collective servo broke but there is no visible damage to the teeth and the servo feels fine. If it has damaged the servo do you repair it or replace it?

I was pretty put out about the crash but now I'm kind of looking forward to going thru the heli again, it will give me a chance to clean and adjust things now that the motor has been broken in.

Thanx for all your input.

If there was enough force to break the servo arm, you should open the servo and look inside for chipped or broken teeth. Also test the servo by operating it throughout its range and pushing/pulling against it.

.

Flying helis since gyros had springs.

As for strighting your landing gear that is just fine I have straightened mine twice a couple more times and they might break but have a spare set anyway
