Just wondered what sort of fit people have between the motor shaft and pinion. I've got the hacker motor and 9 tooth pinion to suit but it seems really tight on the shaft and I'm reluctant to force it on.
I know you have to be a bit careful with pinion position, so any good ideas ??

Just rather get some advice before I destroy my brushless motor. This is the last bit to get my zoom in the air.

Thanks

Simon

I don't know how other pilots are doing it, but here is what I do. I use my vice, I put a small nut against the bottom of the shaft and the gear on the top of the shaft, placed the motor in the vice. Make sure it is sitting straight in the vice and slowly press the gear on. The purpose for the nut on the bottom, is to hold the shaft in placem while pressing the gear on. Hope this helps.

hi
i know you are talking about getting it on but , you can get the gws pinion puller for under $10 usd and it will relieve some of the worry as to pushing it too far on , it will let you remove a pinion with no hassle , some guys heat the pinion with a match or lighter first but its hard to position before it cools off , i use the vise method to press the pinion on and be carefull to suport the far end of the motor shaft as some are recessed and you >CAN< destroy the motor by forceing the shaft out the back end of the motor

I almost destroyed my Hacker using the heat method. The bell on the top of the motor came off. Also if you heat it tomuch I think it boils the greased inside those sealed bearings and that changes the consistancy
