Have just got this and i cannot get Reflex to detect the transmitter it constantly asks to turn on TX. I have the square type lead like the 9C and it only has 2 pins connected inside is this right? Should the battery in/out not be connected together 2 to power tx without transmitting? Anyway anyone have any idea why the transmitter is not being detected? Its driving me mad after paying all the money for XTR i cant get it to work. Any advice greatfully received.
Regards
Graeme

No experience of your particular transmitter but generally for Futaba

2 pins connected to the interface is correct (signal and ground). There will also be two pins linked inside the connector which plugs into the TX - this causes the TX to switch on in non-transmitting mode when connector is plugged in.

i) Battery should be in
ii) You can leave the crystal in
iii) Transmitter switch should be off
iv) Plug Reflex lead into transmitter and the TX should power up automatically with the RF module disabled.
v) Reflex will detect the TX

If this isn't happening then

a) Leads not making contact properly someware. Unplug and plug a few times to clean contacts
b) Could be an install problem. Try reinstall.
c) Faulty interface lead.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi thanks for reply there is only 2 pins connected on the supplied lead. The batt ones that should turn transmitter on are not connected i thought the should be. Got it from sussex model centre mb sent wrong lead? Would it work without this battery connection?

On my 9C I have to switch the power on or REflex can't see it. On my JR, I leave the power off and the cable powers it on.

With the 7C having the same plug as the 9C, I'd think the power needs to be switched on. Remember to extend your antenna or you'll overheat the RF section. I remove the module from my 9C when I use it with Reflex, but the 7C doesn't have a module. I've also heard that removing the crystal will deactivate the RF section, but I don't know if that is fact or rumor.

Hi Graeme,

Not sure if the 7C is a PCM transmitter. If so, you will have to select PPM for the sim to work.

I have the 7C...it's set for PPM and it IS the 9C but with two less channels so whatever settings you need to do for the 9C (ie turning the Tx on) is the same for the 7C....but.... I can't get the program to recognize my Tx... it keeps telling me to "turn on my Tx"....a couple of time after I unplugged the USB interface and plugged it back in I would get the setup screen (to setup the channels) but it still doesn't respond ... then manually set the channels and hit F4...then the sim heli sound starts up for a brief second...then it shuts down and says "reflex interface not responding! Check hardware installation"... I've tried it on tree different computers with all the same result...maybe my interface is defective?

Help!

7C

Hi All,

We worked on this today as a matter of fact.

If you open the plug, remove the solder jump, and switch around the two brown and white wires ( put the brown wire where the white wire is soldered to and put the white wire where the brown wire is soldered) it should work. The funny thing is that the 9c and 4C still work in this configuration as well.

You will need to make sure the radio is turned on, is in PPM mode and the crystal is removed so your battery will last longer.

Let us know if you still have trouble.

Jeff

Jeff, I have only seen a JR and a square Futaba version.

What if I want to us my 9Z that has the standard round Futaba plug?

Is there an adaptor or something?

@#$%^&!

Speaking as one who has found out about this AFTER spending the cash, and AFTER getting rather frustrated at not getting it to work, it sure would be nice if the folks at Reflex posted something on their web-site to that effect: "7C owners will need soldering iron and skills prior to using their expensive sim".

Why is reality almost never as nice as my imagination?!

Do yourself a favor and don't bother emailing reflex. I have emailed them about a few things over the pase 6 months and I never get hear from them. Support from reflex is a big zero but their flight sim is nice when you fix it yourself. If you can solder you can fix it. Doesn't make it right.

I did get a reply from Reflex...

But only after I sent in a letter full of expletives (@#$%$%^^&). Wolfgang doesn't like that at all, and chastisized me.

I have to say that last night, I enjoyed Reflex more than any other day I've ever had it: I put in that update with the indoor gym flying area, grabbed myself a Mikado Logo 10, and started bouncing off the walls. I'll tell you what, doing inverted and flips without hitting the ceiling takes a bit of finesse. What a blast!

The heli crashing on the upper floor is a total riot. Hahaha!

Indoors is cool. I gave it to Wolfgang after not hearing from him and he still didn't get back to me. I guess he picks one or two a year to talk to and you got on the list. He did come out of hiding for a little time just before the release of the upgrade. Then he went away again. Maybe he is inventing a few more upgrades.

It was pretty cool...

...to have the Big Honcho personally tell me all the reasons why it's not Reflex's fault that Futaba played games and changed the spec's on the 7C, thereby making it the only radio in their lineup that the square interface plug doesn't work with flawlessly. We actually exchanged a couple of emails, and at this point, I think I'm a living commercial for Reflex, because if I shelled out the bucks for it, you'd best believe it's because I'd never seen anything like it before. I was using FMS, and was perfectly happy with it, and would have NEVER bought G2, not even for $50 complete, but I paid $189.00 for Reflex, and if I hadn't done it yet, I'd do it today.
