Going out of town very soon. Does airport security hassle you about bringing your radio onboard the plane? Do I have to send it under the bottom or what? Someone please let me know what to expect.

Everything goes under, you can't take tools on the plane either. I'd make sure you pad everything though. I accidently left my can of wd40 in my tool bag and they took it.

Tell the people at the airport its a display model and that it has never flown and there is no fuel on it. (clean it up so they buy the bluff though)

I take my TX as a carryon in a case. The most hassle is the time wasting conversations it inspires from the security folks. I disconnect the battery so there is no chance for it to be turned on accidentally but noone has ever asked about that (5 trips since 9/11.)
