If your Irvine 36 is ABC, and I think they all are, the piston grabing in the bore is normal. The cylinder is actually tapered to a tight fit at the top of the bore and will expand to a normal fit under operating conditions. ABC stands for Aluminum piston, Brass cylinder, Chrome plated, and the brass cylinder has a greater expansion rate under heat than the aluminum piston.
