I am trying to fine tune my gasser, Bergen Intrepid/G26 645 carb. It happened a few start-ups ago. With the 10X I had the throttle trim set at 2 clicks up for Idle, each time I would start it I had to increase the trim a few more clicks, Now I have to set the trim all the way up to start and keep it at idle. What gives? Any solutions?

Check your screen inside of the carb. On one side of the carb you'll see a big phillips head screw. Remove it and take the plate and gaskets off. Might want to do this outside

In the body of the carb you'll see a round screen. carefully clean it and reinstall the gaskets, plate and screw.

Your low needle may need to be adjusted a little leaner.

I just had a thought, Is the idle screw still installed? It's a phillips head screw with a spring on it and a point on the other end used to set the idle speed. I remove it from my carbs, and usually every other one that I lay my hands on.

Set your idle with your throttle trims instead.

Hmmmmmmm

If you are just breaking in the engine, I would say that it is getting too rich on the bottom, and that you need to mechanically re-adjust the linkage/throws or work on the low needle setting. What is the run time you have on this engine, and what needle settings are you currently at?? Also, as you adjust the low needle, your idle point will change.....tune the needle for hover/flight, adjust the idle as necessary.

Hope this helps. Let me know

AGRAV8, I am breaking in the engine and have less than a gallon thru it. I will readjust the low needle tomorrow. I believe I am at about 1to 1 1/8 on the low needle. Thanks, this is my first gasser and it is all foreign to me. I will see how it works tomorrow
Chris, I will also check the carb screen. I do not have the idle screw installed I think Larry took it off to keep me from having more problems

problems

I tried to readjust the G26 today, was 1 1/8 on the low side moved it to 7/8 and it picked up idle a little but not much. I have throttle trim set to the max and still it wants to stall. I took the screen off the carb and it looked clear. I can't keep raising the throttle curve! Other things started to act up the last 2 or 3 times out. I have never flown only hovered some. The 401gyro will not hold the tail anymore. It sounds like the clutch is not engaging when it should, and it gets worse everytime I take it out. Could it be all related? Any help?
