Hi. I just got my new ZOOM, connected everything, and there is this grinding sound when I stard the motor.

The mesh is loose, the tail rotor rotates freely (may be I am lacki and got a third bearing).

The main gear semms to be gringing on the sides of the frame, and I can see it's not totally stright....also the main rotor mast creates some vibration when I spin it up - without the main blades.

Anybody have the same experience? How to take the main mast apeart, to check things....?

Any help will be most appreciated
Thanks.

Yes, the main gear does rub against the frame and after one flight you can see some white powder on the frame. I have two flight now and the grinding noise is still there, but have no affect at all in performance.

Grinding...

Hi thangd.

Are your main blade perfectly balanced?

I see the vibration on the main shaft even without the main blades connected....

Yes, my main blades are balanced. It is just the way the main gear is, and it is very close to the frame, and it will rub and grind.

my shogun came with a slightly bent main shaft out of the box.. I thought I was looking at an optical illusion at first. ( was trying to account for similar vibration) I pulled the main shaft out and rolled it on a large sheet of glass.. it settled to a stop as if it were in a small valley.. Not good.

Replaced it with the steel (upgrade) version and vibration is gone.

Grinding noise on mine came from the T/R servo's case being ground on by the main gear.. bleh. Moved it to the rear with a CF gyro/servo mount. Nothing but the sweet silence of electric power now

How do you pull the main mast out?

Thanks for the help.

May be my main shaft is bent too....

I would like to check, but am afraid to start unscrewing things - may not be able to put it back together.....

Any manuals on how to check if the main mast is stright?
(Take it apart.... , put back together )
