Just ordered a Predator Gasser.. Is there anything I should know before it gets here?. anything special when putting it together??

This will be my first gasser, but I am looking forward to it...

OK, guys. here are a couple of things to be considered when ordering your Predator gasser.

Predator BASIC:

The basic machine comes with 710 woodies and plastic tail blades. You can start off on the woodies, but I suggest you get some CF tail blades. Century offers some 105's.....but I suggest the 115 rotortech blades that they sell also. Gives the tail GOOD bite, and still some clearance between the tail disk and the bottom of the vertical fin. I suggest you have a way to monitor/regulate headspeed with the woodies, and I personally call 1800-1850 as max RPM on woodies. Will you see a big difference in that VS carbon blades?? Yep.

The torpedo muffler ($99) is a really good choice for performance. The engines come with the "box" muffler.....this is louder than the torpedo, but adequate for the 231 engine.

Note the hardware suggestions I make in my gasser buildup post. This can save you some time/hassle while you build up your machine.

I also suggest the metal A arm upgrade on any/all predators. Not only stronger than the plastic, but it is adjustable in length, making setup of the CCPM easier to keep symmetric.

Get a head button.

I use the elevator push/pull upgrade on all my predators. Your choice there.
Suggested upgrades for Basic predator gasser
upper double bearing block with thrust bearing
lower thrust bearing

PREDATOR SE

This new version comes with some very important upgrades as standard, and the value of it is hard to beat.

Some additional Items it includes:
CF tail boom supports
CF tail blades 105 mm
CF 700 MM Rotortech main blades
Sprage bearing autohub
Head button
CF Pro tail fins (skeleton)
removable pull start
upper double bearing block with thrust bearing
lower thrust bearing


Upgrade suggestions:

Metal A arm. See above
Elevator push/pull
front servo relocation kit for tail servo

Torpedo muffler.


You can get as blingy as you want, with metal goodies.

For those guys looking to really push their machines in the 3D arena, I would suggest a gear ratio change....get the 90 or 92(this one calls for some slot "stretching" via dremel) main gear. I am running the 88 (6.28 stock, good for general sport flying), Payton has the 90 (6.4 good for advanced flying/moderate 3D) and Bill has run the 92 (6.57 for max headspeed retention during hard collective/cyclic demands). We can help you decide which is the best choice for you.

Hope to evaluate via phone tomorrow the exact contents of the SE version. Might have one in the state if the USPS gremlins will let it thru

Make sure you have fuel line.....nothing worse than assembling it...then running all around town trying to find a store that carried 1/8 id gas safe fuel line.....
