I think this all goes in the "damn straight" file

This is what Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

"I like big cars, big boats, big motorcycles, big houses and big campfires. I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some governmental stooge with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts for squirting out babies.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You
can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to
ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there
are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it
is an opinion.

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except
numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory
are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black
Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens. Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off. When 70% of the people who get
arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that
is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes,
a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of
fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak
English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the
countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry self if
you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand
the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are
qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I believe a self-righteous liberal or conservative with a cause is more
dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and
continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next
operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. Ask
your buddy who invented the Internet to help you.

"I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please
don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home
until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly
infected mouth as you serve me french fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and
not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be
"African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around
saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe.

I am proud to be from America and nowhere else. And if you don't like my point of view, tough. DON'T PASS IT ON!!"

While life may not be the party we hoped for, while we're here we might as well dance.

A lot of that rings true, as does a lot of Michael Moore's "Stupid White People"

Perhaps somewhere in the middle is the truth...

I tend to agree with the sentiments but that wasn't Andy Rooney.

For those in total agreement a few questions..

1. If you dont want to support crackheads squirting out offspring, why is there so much support of anti-abortion laws even in cases of rape and incest?

2. You want your cheap gas prices to justify the distances you have to travel accross that huge country of yours (seems fair) so why buy an SUV that does 10mpg to drive round manhattan?

3. If baseball bats are as lethal as guns why dont we hear of all these drive by baseball bat killings?

4. Why won't Bush sign/agree/enforce to the kyoto accord? does he think human rights in other countries is that important he would defend those whilst allowing everyone else in the world to die due to the death of the ozone layer?

All of this is said quite tongue in cheek, but it does make you think as well doesnt it

Davo,
Go eat a good Cucumber Sandwich. In case you have read a paper or watched the news in the last year, obesity isn't just a problem in the US, but the whole Western World, which by the way you are part of.

Pauline Hanson's Maiden Speach in Parliament

I don't know if many of you have heard of her or not. this woman was elected as an independant politician.
In her time as an elected official she was very popular with a good majority of Australia. Does this make us racist or realists?

The government and the opposition party did everything possible legally and likely illegally to bring the demise of Ms Hanson.

Having just reread this speach I noticed that at least two of her ideas are now happening. (The end of ATSIC and an inquiry into Family Law act and child support failures) 8 years later under the same governemt that bought about her end.

Just to set the record straight I do not consider myself a racist. I consider myself a patriot who wants equality in Australia for ALL Australians.

Laughing at yourself will lengthen your life. Laughing at me will shorten it...

I doubt this is Andy Rooney. This sounds like SPAM to me.

Do a search on snopes.com. There are quite a few fake Andy Rooney spams running around.

Yeah..like its that simple. Microsoft invests in competitors to keep them alive so they aren't a monopoly....like SCO.

I will be the first to say "If you can put up with me, we can get along just fine" I am far from being racist, but when I was in college back in the late 80's, my room-mate & I decided to do a little "sociology experiment".
I was in civil engineering, and he was in computer engineering, when we noticed a sign posted "Black Engineering Society meeting" at such-and-such time, in such-and-such place. Well, of course, we printed out fliers with "White Engineering Society meeting" at fictitious time in fictitious place, and we posted them ONLY in places where we saw the BES signs posted, and nowhere else.
OMG, you should have seen the ****storm that followed!!!! Not only did we make every major newspaper in the state (I won't mention which state, as I am unaware of statutes of limitations, especially these days), but we also made the USA Today Life section..."Rasicm alive and well on campuses". The campus offered a reward of $1000 for information regarding whoever posted these signs, and the local city police had issued warrants under the newest "hate crimes" statutes. Needless to say, we were scared out of our shorts, and always avoided the main entrances to the Engineering School for fear of being recognized, but nothing ever came of it, THANK GOD. We almost decided to transfer out, but figured this may look suspicious, and we posted the signs during very low traffic times, so we took our chances and watched the fallout. Things calmed down after about two weeks, but we definitely saw something happen when the city paper's editorial and opinion columns began making the point of "why them but not us".

To avoid singling out a black / white issue, there was a young chinese man in my dorm, living down the hall, who had a completely free ride from the US government, because he was involved in the Tienemen Square incident. His room & board, classes, books, CAR AND GAS, plus monthly allowance, were completely paid for by us, the taxpayers. He had a new TV, new stereo, decked out dorm room, and didn't have to lift a finger for any of it. I can perfectly understand the goverment giving him protection, and maybe a little help to get started, but this was a completely beyond me. My father had given 22 years of service to the US Army (at the time I started college), during the height of the cold war, moving his family all over Europe without question, and we couldn't get a single penny's help for my tuition.

I have since greatly calmed down, and have also learned to judge each person for what they are as an individual. But, you want to talk about one very angry young white american male back then.....

Sorry about the long post, and I have never told that first story before, but I figured it fit.

Flying a heli is like seeing the Matrix, it is a mind bending experience.

I dont blame the Liberals for Hansons downfall.

The court case came about as a result of the fact the her #2 was working in Tony Abbotts offices for the Libs and continued to do so while he was setting up One nation.

Abbott found out he was doing that while working for Abbott and blew a gasket, as you would if he worked for you while setting up your competitors.

Abbott set upon one nation like the lefties never could.
With real dirt.
Remember the most vigourous beating up of here in the Media was from the Labour left and ABC.

You could here thet poofter on RRR any day doing his Pauline Pantrs down routine.
Lefty media didnt go a day without beating Pauline.

Many on the right agreed with here.
Hanson never picked up lefty Labour voters, she appealed the Liberals on the right of Politics..

As far as my opinion of One nation, not the sharpest tools in the shed, none of them.
Pauline shouldve stuck to frying chips.

True Dave, they weren't the sharpest in the bunch but who of them were educated? Most were you average Joe who had a say and a hell of a lot of people listened. One Nation were their own worst enemies with all the infighting. But no one can deny that the major parties were running scared of her.

If they could have gained a few major players then this country might be a different place. If I remember rightly didnt One Nation get more votes than the Nationals that year? If not for the government juggling numbers there would have been more One Nation Senators.

Even the court case against her was stacked against her when a Judge doesn't allow evidence that would have seen her set free in the first place.

Laughing at yourself will lengthen your life. Laughing at me will shorten it...
