I was wondering, is it possible and if so do you people ever make small plastics parts yourself from a mold of the original part.

For the most part the "plastic" parts are "high pressure" injection molded and have "filler" material to increase strength. Molding at normal" pressure will be unlikely to produce parts with enough strength or stiffness or detail.

Molding Press

Most of the parts in our helis require the use of anywhere from a 50 to 300 ton injection molding machine... Not something you would have in your basement. Most of the "plastic" used is also filled with glass fiber to give it strength... Very nasty stuff to work with, and is very tough on the mold itself, and it's stinky! A single mold that produces... let say a plastic link cost much more then many us have invested in all our heli's!
