All of the models, Zoom, Shogun, Dolphin are identical. The boom has a bearing front and back and a bushing in the center.

The early models had a bushing in the center, but it seems all current production have ball bearings. I bought my Shogun in May and it has a bearing in the middle.

that's what I thought. I bought mine from Hobby People around the same time. I did not want to pull it apart unless there was some real doubt that the bearing was not in there. I wonder if all Shoguns have the bearing in the boom.

Then again, I heard that some guys are adding two bearings for a total of four?

FWIW: If you order a replacement tail boom, it comes with a bearing.

Yes, and some need 6 bearing to fly...

The 2 stock ones with a bushing works fine.
The new ones come with 3 bearings witch ofcourse is better...

Mine whistled on the first flight with the bushing installed, I quickly rigged up an extra bearing and flight times went up and the noise went away!!

Mine's whistling now. In fact, that's why I changed booms! Flight time was down, noise was up, and I figured the bushing was the cause. When I got into the boom and found a bearing I was confused, so I put the new boom and bearing in and the noise is still there.

I think I will put an extra bearing in the boom and see if that helps.
