Just had my first crash. It has been less than half an hour, so I don't now how I really feel about it yet. I just starting flying a month or so ago and I thought that I was doing better than I guess I actually was. I haven't figure up the dollar amount damage, I'm afraid to. Wife is going to hard to convince the urgency of spending money on repairs. .

Well, as they say, "there are those who have... and those who will..."

Take a few days and then order your parts. You'll be fine.

Just got off the phone with the Chief Financial Officer (Wife), she informed me about the new carpet we are getting, our summer vacation coming up, her car repair bill, etc. Why don't our spouses understand the priorities of helicopters? I guess the repair parts will have to just magically appear via UPS and I will suffer the consequences AFTER they arrive. She never makes me send something back after it arrives. Order first, answer questions later.

Yup! For some reason the damn Earth always seems to win!

I remeber my 1st crash - nothing like the first one. You think your doing well and everything is going great than blam! Kinda shatters something inside you know

Ah, well time heals all wounds right??

You know what they say - if you fall off the horse you gotta get back on again right? It just really sucks when you keep falling off the horse again and again and again - dang why do I do this hobby????

Oh yeah, its more addictive than crack! and more fun!

I beleive it was Winston Churchill who said,

Flying buddies house always seems to work for me!

Or there is always the fake price tag ploy!

When I bought my Xspec - I got the guys at the LHS to put a sale sticker on it saying $299! hehehe! The GF didn't really mind that much - oh if only she really knew!

I'm bad

Simple, just tell her, "Honey, Baby, but.... I am the man."

There no way she'll let you stay at the house.

my point exactly I have already tried the half-a$$ approach where she sees that I only did it half way and I say "but I didnt know how" -or- "I tried really hard" by that time she just shakes her head and figures I be telling the truth and lets me go in shame however that trick is wearing off (something about you can learn to hover and try to fly a heli but you still only vacuum one strip in the house and one in the lawn when are you going to learn) so how do I accomplish this without the risk of the disclaimer consequences?

That might get me shot

Don't get me wrong I love my wife and everything she does for my family but sometimes I think she purposely tries to sabatoge my flying oppurtunities by demanding something else heres a scenario every day I like to go out around noon to meet a true pro to learn from him and ask him questions and try to expand my knowledge anyway possible the way I believe new guys are supposed to but she manages to leave the baby with me while she runs to the laundromat and I dont get there in time because of it but shell sit here and let me have it before and after she left jsut to try and limit my oppurtunity ahhhhhhhhhhhh what should I do?

sunshining no wind days
I just realized you are from Minnesota, so, you get about 3 of those a year?

When I used to fly gliders the condition was called "Thermalitis". I guess our condition could be described as "Hoveritis"? The main remedy is Thera-Hover which can only be consumed on windless, sunny days at the field?

How about, "Honney, my buddie just got arrested and I have to go downtown for a few hours and bail him out"?

"I think the Halogen fluid is low in the car and I can't drive at night without its, I'll be right back..."

"Does that smell like a forest fire to you? I'm going to check it out..."

"Lassie says that Timmy is stuck in the well!>>>"

"I am going to give blood..."

We could set up a whole network here from RR to call guys that need to be called away form home for a few hours.

I don't know, just some ideas that look good on paper...

i would hang around with her a few days offering to do things with her, like doing dishes vacumning and constantly be under her nose all the while. she will eventually tell you to leave her alone for awhile, make sure everything is already packed in the car! ken

Smile! people will wonder what you're up to!!

so...

who here has a wife/gf that supports their heli fever?

I'm planning on getting into it... so i wouldnt know..

I've asked her numerous occasions, she says she's way cool with it...
but i havent started yet... so i dont really know..

is this what they say to start? then bam, what this thread illustrates?

If they are the breadwinners, and you are spending their money.. i can understand.. but if its your money.. and your time.. whats the problem..

then agian.. i'm not married!!!
