CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THEY HAVE A HUMMINGBIRD -CP THAT IS OPERATING ON LITHIUM BATTERIES AND NOT GIVING THEM ANY PROBLEMS. I UNDERSTAND FROM CENTURY THAT THE LITHIUM POWERED HELIS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON. ESC'S ARE BURNING UP AND FLIGHT TIMES ARE SHORT. I'M AT THE POINT WHERE I MIGHT JUST BUY ONE WITH THE NIMH CELLS AND GET IT OVER WITH, AFTER LOOKING INTO THE ELECTRIC HELI MARKET FOR ONE YEAR IT'S GETTING OLD. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS ON GETTING SET UP WITH A SCALE LOOKING ELECTRIC LET ME KNOW. I WAS DOWN TO BUYING THE HUMMINGBIRD -CP WITH A JMD FUSELAGE AND RETRACT KIT BUT WITH ALL THIS BATTERY AND ESC CONFUSION I'M NOT SURE...
THANKS MOJO.

Hahaha...wow, that's an eyefull.

3s poly packs and brushless separates is the way to go with the HB CP. Working great for me...

Do a search for brushless separates.

Just as pbmax said...

A 3s Li-poly and a brushless motor will generate more than enough head speed for any micro heli.

I am using 3s LiPos with my hummingbird CP, stock esc, and motor. It runs great. The flight times are not as good as the same setup on my HBv.II but that is probably due to the higher head speed.

I do use the seperate gyro and mixing board. I heard the integrated one was a pain.

you can use lipos on any helicopter. all that matters is the electronics. so feel free to buy the heli. just be careful what esc and motor you pick.

You have to remember that the components that come with the HB out of the box are not designed for Lipos or high performance. You can learn to hover and FF with them, but you will probably burn all the stuff up by the time you are at that level and replace them with good seperates.

My advice, buy the bare kit for $99, and go straight into brushless, seperates, DD, and Lipos. You wont regret it and you waste your money on burnt up inferior parts that you will throw away, you will also enjoy your heli much more.

If you give a Chimp a gun, and the Chimp shoots, DONT BLAME THE CHIMP!!!!
