As some may have noted from my other posts, I am playing catch up after being absent from the hobby for over a decade. (yes, I learned to hover w/o a simulator...$$$$)

Is there a source to find out how to do the current style painting? Here is my main issue, How does the scheme get applied and painted on fiberglass canopy. What is the sequence, materials, etc.

I have seen many threads regarding canopy prep and painting. What I have not found is instruction on how to apply & paint the scheme, masking, design, etc.

I am not really interested in sending my canopy out (certainly not out of the question) to a professional. I would much rather have control of my own initial production and crash repair.

Thanks,

Rick

Only suggestion I can offer is to visit some R/C car forums, they'll usually have threads on painting there. IT's a bit different, they paint their clear bodies on the inside, but most of the principles will apply.

http://www.rctech.net is one place that I know used to have an active painting section, or perhaps even better Mark might create a painting techniques section here on RR...

There are different styles of painting- stripes, fades, graphics. Several companies have sprung up that just paint canopies. Looking at their sites can give you an idea of current styles. Some of the sites have painting tips. After several attempts I am now getting to where I can lay down a good quality finish, but I lack the talent, creativity, and experience to do a professional quality job. Practice and consistency seem to be the key here.
