ok

i have got the dd motor and props, i need to know what to do know. The guy in the shop tld me to get the pinion off the dd motor by squeezing it in a vice till it cracks off.

the motor has came with a male conncector. Do i just chop this off?

How do i get the old motor out, and do i just chop the wires off it?

do i then just solder red to red, and black to black?

I guess a vice is one way to get it off...a pinion puller would be more elegant. GWS makes one for the IPS motors I think...I don't know since all my DD tail motors have come w/o pinions.

You can save the connector, or not, your call. If you don't have a mate for it, cut it off and throw it out.

The old motor has screws, unscrew them, remove it.

You can cut the wires, or unsolder them. Your call.

I think the DD Tail is flipflopped as far as polarity goes, but I'm not certain. To find out for sure you can play around with a small battery seeing which way the motor spins. Remember, thrust to the right as you're looking down the tail at the heli from the back. The writing on the prop points to the left, opposite the thrust direction.

ok cheers for that.

Now getting the prop onto the motor. any ideas? ive flushed te whole a bit but its still tight and i dont want to force it. shall i put it in boiling water? it should go on then?

the wire on the motor is about 2.5inches long, i reckon im gonna have to much spare wire hanging around if i use all of it. therefore i assume im ok to cut it shorter?

ok almost there. have unscrewed and unsoldered the old motor, and now just need to solder the dd in. However i am crap at stripping wires, so this could get brutal. (not as brutal as me smacking the vice with a hammer trying to get the amn pinion off).

ok, mounted it next to the old tail amount, on the top of the boom using double sided tape and zip ties. I managed to morph the first blade by putting it in boiling water. then made the second blades hole too big, however i have added a touch of glue and it seems fine. havnt flown yet, am in the process of rebuilding my g10.

Ack, you beat me to it! I was going to say DONT boil it cuz you'll get bendy blades

I didnt enlarge the holes at all, I just pushed....HARD to get the tail prop on.

Also, you might want to mount the motor backwards, so to speak, so the prop blows over the motor (shaft pointing to the left as you look down the tail at the heli) for better cooling. It will work the other way, but the motor will run hotter. Yup, double-sided tape and zipties is what I used.

tested it out. flies great. although my rudder trim is all the way left, and i still need left rudder, its too strong lol, ut thats not really a problem.

unfortunately my flight times are tiny now, looking at no more than 8 mins!

i know lipo is the way to go, but the damn chargers are so expensive, therefore im gonna try and get my hands on a few more birdseeds (only got the one at the moment). if anyone has got any spare, please let me know, i would be very greatful and would pay a bit.
