Can someone explain to me the difference between the two and if each model tends to favor one type of flying than others?

Karl, the sport comes with a belt like your EVO and the upgrade is a Torque tube like I had on the Hawk and the Predator has. I personally like the TT better. Never have to worry about stretching.

The TT also has the open metal tailbox while the belt has a G10 unit.

The advantages of the belt drive would be; lower price, easy to set up right, low maintenance and durability (less gears to worry about). The disadvantage of the belt drive is a slightly lower gear ratio, extra drag in the system, a fixed tailboom length, and no driven tail option.

The advantages of the torque tube; variable tailboom length, better gear ratio for hard flying, less drag in the system, driven tail option, and let's not forget the bling factor of the tail gearbox. Disadvantages; price, maintenance (extra gears), repair cost is higher, and technically more difficult to set up right.
