I have a set of NHP 710 razors for my VigorCS, and I thought they were ok. Then I put on a set of 680 MS night blades (hehe) and I coudln't believe the performance difference. The MS blades out climbed the longet 710's at the same rpm, had better cyclic response and autoed much easier, with better rotor rpm retained.

I am guessing it is the thin airfoil that the NHP's have. Not much lift there comparitively, and I think they soak up a lot of power.

So, what kind of blades do you find work best on your Vigor?

The head speed was the same, that is why I am disgruntled with the NHP's. As for the weight, I would venture to guess, even though the length is different and the construction is different, the NHP's are lighter, just by holding one in one hand and one in the other. (pretty technical measurement :P) I can say that the MHP's definitely auto like a much lighter blade than the 680's.

My main gripe is that even though I have a larger disk with the NHP's they are outberformed by the MS blades.

I have not been typically impressed with MS blades in the past. So this was a rude awakening. This being my first set of the Razors, I think NHP took a step back with them from the old square tipped ones.

Mainly though, I was asking what blades have Vigor owners found to be good blades ontheir machines.

I think you'd better get NHP 680, then compare to MS...

Ivan,

Janek and dyoo are right as you are not comparing "apples" to "apples".
I have found NHP razors to be good over all blades.

Ok, well, I am saying the smaller and more rotten looking apples taste way better than the bright red looking big ones.

I still think the razors are sub-par.

I flew MS night blades in the past and found them to be excellent blades.

Ivan, I am curious, what engine are you using on you Vigor?

I have always had good performance with 700mm Vblades on my Vigor.

The Vigor that I have the YS91 really likes the 700's.
The other Vigor I have with a YS80 tends to bog more with the 700's.

The new version 690 Vblade has a slightly thicker chord, and at the tip (swept tip on new design) is the same lenght as the 700mm older version Vblade.
They feel identical to me as far as flight performance goes.
The 690 Vblade is stiffer though.

I just ordered a set of MAH 690 G2 with the tapered chord 60 - 48mm. And they list it as a good blade for 70 - 91 size engines. So I am hoping they will work good with the YS80.

I will try to post back when I get some air time on them.

Ivan,

The better cyclic response is from the more rear CG of the MS blades. MS blades tend to lead in flight. If your looking for a very agresive blade you've found it. Remember to check/replace your servos more often because of increased back load.

I am using the OS 91 C(rap)-spec.

I had to cut the throttle curves back to keep them at the same speed, but the performance was much greater in all aspects.

I didn't realise that the ms blades lead in flight. That would explain the cyclic being much quicker.

I am thinking of getting a set of Vblades. I think they are pretty good all around blades, but haven't tried them on the Vigor. Well, I did. I had a set of 720's that lasted for about 15 seconds, thanks to the poor quality C(rap)-spec bearings. They climbed real well, and autoed ok for the first 30 feet down, but it was too far out to land.

I am just wanting to put my money where it counts, you know?

Thanks for the opinions.

Blades

Hey Ivan,

I have a set of 680cm MS Carbon Competition pros on my Millennium and love them, they suit my flying perfectly. I also have the MS tails on the Millennium aswell, both very good.

I used to have a set of MS Mains/Tails on my Raptor30 aswell.

I fly the Competition pro version of the blades as they seem to be much more rigid and this was proved to me when i had a boom strike with the millennium after an unplanned auto turned bad and the baldes whiped out the boom and the drive shaft but the blades were totally undamaged!! yes!! undamaged!!

I have checked them for laminate seperation etc.. and i have hovered with them but have replaced them for safety reasons, they are sound so i have kept them for back-up.

The blades i had on my R30 survived a midair!! the heli and plank tried to make babies in the air and they fell approx 300ft after mangling each other and the blades were intact!! both still in one piece but with slight dings here and there.

Janek: The main blades are only hollow at the tips from my inspection of the damaged ones on my R30, they are solid up to the tips then they are hollow. I don't know the truth behind it but i heard that they were balsa cored!

I've been impressed with the MS blades, a little more expensive than other baldes but i like them.

Get some 71's on that vigor and let her rip!!

Cheers!

Hollow

My MS 550's I had on my R30 where hollow throughout. I have MS680's on my R70 and they are nice blades, but I fell like they rob power from the heli.
