no offence to wolfgang as this is a brilliant product but realflight and IPACS will have taken note that the bench mark just moved up quite a bit.
Yup they will be disecting the code to work out how they did it...

I have G2 and AFP, AFP is the better of the two ,especially when combined with 3D glasses!

Thanks guys but as much I value all all your inputs, I would appreciate an honest opinion and not hypes about any particular sim. Of course, everyone will say that the sim they own is the best, even if they have not really flown others. As a student, I have a very limited budget, and making a decision on a sim is tough because they are all way overpriced ! But at least I can afford to crash a hundred times a day now ! I don't think there's such a thing as the best sim, only what that works best for you. If I am looking for total realism, then I fly at the field. No sim can be totally realistic. I found these two threads discusses the subjects of limitations of flight physics and scenery in detail. and were helpful in selecting a sim

how do you think we are not being honest?????????

this is not hype.

i tried G2 before i bought AFP and imho AFP was better. i don't know what else you can expect people to give you??

as for reflex, if have not tried it so won't comment on it.

we are only trying to help and i think your more or less telling us to shove it now. we are all biased.

the chances of someone owning all 3 of the main sims is pretty remote therefore you will never get an accurate opinion of which is best. but between G2 and AFP it's a no brainer.

one last point about sims being realistic that you mention or lack of in this case:-

imho the sim is not a replacement for flying. it never will be. what it teaches me is what inputs do what in a given point of orientation. to me thats what a sim is about. it shows what command should be used.
as for being real, it will never never be as real as the heli for one reason. crashing a sim costs nothing. but for flight characteristics i think they are pretty spot on. but burning gallons teaches more but i use the sim to try things first to get a "general" feel for it.

cheers

Reflex Vs G2?

I've never heard of Reflex... how does it compare with the G2 sim?

As I said I have G2 and AFP, with all available add ons/ expansion packs and although I like G2 with its online multiplayer facility, I think
that AFP is more realistic when it comes to flying.I do intend to get a
copy of XTR at some point in the near future, but as I have not had any
experience of that particular sim at the present time, I can't comment on its realism. As Raptorheli2 has pointed out, all we can do is give you our opinions based on our experiences, and in my experience AFP is the best that I have tried.

I was at your position, a beginner that was looking to buy a sim.

My research on RR told me the following (I am giving you this easy, but I think you should do your own research, its very clear what you should get if you did your research)

This is what the Majority of people on RR seemed to agree apon.

Heli: Reflex for sure (coming from people who have tried ALL sims out there)

But Reflex is not good if you want to fly airplane.
But this is before the XTR came out.

So far nobody have real comments on how airplanes in XTR flys.

I think for airplanes you should go with AFP.

Reflex used to have literally best customer service in this business. (G2 have the worst, and they still do)
but since XTR came out, their customer services just gets worse and worse.
But their old promise still stands.

If you get Reflex, you'll get all your future updates for free!
its amost too good to be true, maybe that's why they cut back on customer support? not sure.

anyways, it'd seemed to me that everybody here are giving you honest opinions, G2 is the worst of the bunch no matter how you look at it.
