Any sim would do to learn basic orientation.
But here is what you should get ... IMO...

Frank
Dont forget to bring a clean pair of shorts when flying 3D ;)

as long as it teaches hovering and orientation, any should work....

after a year of flying i rarely find myself on the sim, maybe to figure out some complicated 3D moves...thats it...

I would go with a used copy of G2.

I guess I'll partecipate to 2008 3dmaster (and maybe win it ) still waiting for my copy of that sim

FLYING IS NOT DANGEROUS; CRASHING IS

I have learnt many 3D maneuvers on AFP including chaos and tic-tocs. It's the only sim I have (and can afford a year ago), so I can't say much about the others. To me, it's value for money and I really enjoy flying around the real 3D objects. My brother also shares my AFP, although he flies 3D planes mostly. It's one great sim that I would recommend !

AFP is a good sim, there is no doubt about it, my mate Rob had all of them here and we played with them constantly, i prefered the reflex as did Rob, but like everty thing in ths world its about choices if you are happy with what you are got stick with it, i found reflex a bit harder than the others, which for us was good,

I went to the field the other day and had not flown for 5 months, and it was eaiser than the reflex and i doing stuff that i would not even dream off always getting into trouble and correcting it.

have fun

AFP it is !

After reading all the comments here and in other threads, I have decided to go for AFP. Placed an order today and hope to receive in a few days. I am getting the interface version that should work with my 9C. It's a pity there's not much coverage on AFP in RR, but I read a lot about it in other forums. Wish me luck !

yes it tell you some people are blind to facts. AFP is far superiour to G2. G2 used to be the buzz word.

trust me. you made the right choice. oh and i did try G2 before i bought AFP.

cheers

What that, Reflex XTR is the new daddy?

Used to be the buzz word - past tense

But i would agree that AFP is better than G2

i never implied AFP could compete with XTR so thats why i said G2.

no offence to wolfgang as this is a brilliant product but realflight and IPACS will have taken note that the bench mark just moved up quite a bit.

i bet there is something in the works at all the sim companies.

cheers
