A couple of pieces of news for you all.

Our supplier of engines and carbs has informed us that they will swap out all the 677 carbs for 643's. If you have an Intrepid gas with 677, call us and we will swap yours out with our existing supply, and then return the bunch to our supplier. Sorry that it seems to have taken so long, but the supplier had to be convinced of the problem

Also, We are supplying the Intrepid gas kits with the G26 engines. I can't stress enough the fact that these engines are NOT shaking our machines apart. I watched and video'd Mal flying hers around over the last couple of days, I hope to get it posted soon, and you can see the video of mine on another heli forum from the Chattanooga funfly, (thanks William). Both are very smooth. Mal's engine has quite some time on it, whereas mine has about a gallon and a half through it.

Flying season is here, Let's go fly!!

Chris -

I purchased a 231 motor from you in November with the 677 carb on it -
can I get a replacement carb if I send it in?

Chris,
My engine actually has right around 1 gal through it now since the piston replacement.

I think some of the vibe issues that people are talking about come from overspeeding the head and getting that motor up around 15K.

No problems with my 26 initially (with a 643).

But I did skirt the piston and it smoothed out even more, as I crank mine at 12-13K.

These engines are BONE stock right out of the box. We do not modify them in any way (yet ).

I think what some are refering to in other posts is the fact that we started using the airplane version of the G26( difference being no pullstart, prop adapter, and different primary coil). We added the pull start, and removed the prop adapter.

Yes, Hanson is doing mods to the engines, but we wanted to test the engine in stock form for a LONG time to ensure the longevity and reliability. Now we are playing with some of hanson's cylinders and pistons, and other things .

I have used the 643, 644, and 645 carbs. No difference on how it runs.
Just accessories included on the carb.

The 677 could be made to work, although it took entirely too much time and tweaking, and if my father, Bill, and myself are cussing at this thing at the end of the day, I can't imagine what someone who has limited experience would be going through. Easier on everyone to go with the carb that works.

As Mal mentioned, I was mistaken in the amount of time on her engine. We replaced her piston and cylinder after doing some "mods" of our own that didn't turn out very well

Oh well, From the way her bird was running, I thought she had about 20 gallons through it, it was that strong. If I can figure how to post video we'll get it up here

Just wanted to thank all of you at Bergen for your great support. Don't know of any other company willing to swap out carbs that the engine manufacturer installed just because they aren't any good. You didn't design the engine, yet you are correcting the problem for your customers. THANK YOU, I was lucky enough to get my G26 from you with the 643 carb, but had I gotten the 'problem' carb ...

I will continue to support your company, and pass the word to all that they are appreciated.

645 - Got Mine

Just have to echo the above. Spoke to Larry last week about the exchange and got mine yesterday. Funny thing is mine was in the mail on the way back on Monday - and they shipped before they even got it!

Gotta love the service.

Hello Chris

Should I just ship my 677 carb to Larry? I have sent an e-mail to Larry but have not had a reply as yet. I have also asked him to supply a price for a kit to change to 800mm blades but also no reply.

Has he been away recently?

Thanks
