I didn't do much of a setup on the 401. I just set the remote gain to 80% and set the limit on the gyro.

I am trying to do some piro manuevers and my gyro is not keeping a constant speed. I was trying to do a piro funnel the other day and the tail was speeding up and slowing down while it was going around. It made it very hard to do and I couldn't complete the manuever. I was wondering how I can fix this.

Goto Raptor Technique he's got a whole section on setting up gyros. To tweak it in the servo arm length has to be right, the gain needs to be close, the linkage needs to be free of any binding.
Remember that ATV's are for setting PIRO RATE, the actual servo throw is adjusted on the gyro.

It's not the rate, I can do a steady piro when it is moving slow or still, but when I pick up a good amount of speed the piro rate does not stay constant. It slows when the tail is moving first and speeds up when the nose is going first.

it is just the way a 401 is. you might be ready for a 601

although I've got 10+ flights on my JR500T and really like it so far, pyros are more consistant than with the 401
