Hey everyone, my os 32 sxh has a problem. it idles great. it starts advancing good. My heli will lift off and do circuits and then after half throttle I dont hear a throttle change. And i get no more power out of it. All in know when i go to full throttle the blades go to a higher pitch but engine doesnt advance. Is it too rich? too lean? It does smoke quite a bit, but so does everyone elses and they get full throttle. my heli is a hawk sport.
thx in advance.

O.S. .32

FIRST QUESTION?
DID YOU CHECK YOUR FUEL SYSTEM, IS IT SEALED, IS IT CLEAN, IS IT CLEAR.
IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING GOOD, AND THEN STOPS RUNNING GOOD, THE FIRST THINGS TO CHECK ARE THE OBVIOUS, OR NOT SO OBVIOUS.
HAVE YOU CHANGED THE PLUG, WHAT PLUG IS IT. OS #8?
WHAT FUEL ARE YOU RUNNING?
HOW MANY HOURS ON THE ENGINE.
IS THE SLEEVE SCORED?
CAN YOU PUSH THE PISTON UP THROUGH THE SLEEVE?
WHAT PIPE OR MUFFLER ARE YOU RUNING?
HAVE YOU CHECKED TO SEE THAT YOUR THROTTLE CURVE IS SET TO ADVANCE PAST HALF STICK(IT WOULD BE EASY IF THIS WAS ALL IT WAS!)
CHECK THESE SIMPLE THINGS FIRST AND SEE IF THE PROBLEM BEARS ITS UGLY HEAD?

3. i am running cool power 30%.
4. yes
5. yes
6. i am using the stock hawk sport muffler.

How does it climb out though/?
Maybe the blades are slowing the engine down enuff so u wont hear it rev up.......Maybe give it full throttle, (engine off of course)and take the linkage loose and see if the carb goes open any more....

climb out

it climbs out good. But when i want to go past full it just makes a sound from the blades and no engine sound. It does make a lot of smoke from the exhaust. I will take it out tomorrow morning and see what it does when i lean it out.
thx

sounds like your heli is running fine. ie constant head speed.
your engine shouldn't pick up any revs just power past 1/2 stick.
If you are used to planes not helis this might explane things.
but yes it could be a little on the rich side.
or maybe a little to much pitch.

mixture problem

1) TAKE THE ENGINE OUT.
2) LOOK DOWN THE CARB ON THE LOW SPEED NEEDLE SIDE.
3) WHAT POSITION IS THE RIDGE ON THE LOW SPEED BARREL.
IF THE RIDGE IS IN REALLY FAR, RE-ADJUST TO FLUSH WITH THE SIDE OF THE CARB INLET. IN OTHERWORDS IF YOU ARE LOOKING DOWN THE CARB AND THE INLET IS ROUND, THE RIDGE ON THE LOW SPEED BARREL SHOULD NOT STICK OUT INTO THE INLET. RE-ADJUST THE HI-SPEED NEEDLE TO 1-1/2 TURNS OUT. TRY THIS SETTING, AND DO NOT TOUCH THE LOW SPEED. IF YOUR ENGINE CUTS OFF AT LOW SPEED, THEN RAISE THE THROTTLE ATV UNTIL YOU GET A RELIABLE IDLE. IF YOUR ENGINE STILL RUNS LIKE ****, I WOULD SUSPECT THAT YOUR MUFFLER IS POSSIBLY CHOKING THE ENGINE, OR YOU HAVE A PIECE OF SILICONE OR SOMETHING IS IN THE MUFFLER. I WAS ONCE AT THE HIROBO CUP, AND I SAW AN ENGINE RUN GANG BUSTERS AT HALF THROTTLE, BUT AS SOON AS YOU NAILED IT IT WOULD DIE. I TOOK THINGS APART AND FOUND A BIG ASS PIECE OF SILICONE IN THE BAFFLE. IF YOU REMEMBER THE OLD CONCEPT 30'S, THE STOCK MUFFLERS ALWAYS USED TO RUN THE ENGINES A LITTLE ON THE HOT SIDE, AS SOON AS YOU WOULD CHANGE THE MUFFLER, THINGS WOULD GET BETTER.
HOPE THIS HELPS!

thx everyone

thx eveyone. it finally works correctly. the problem was that the collective actually started out at 0 degrees (at idle). And by the time i reached half throttle i was already at 6 degrees. I had a really slow head speed but it flew. it flew horribly. So at full thorttle it was at a 11 degrees pitch and i finally read about the right pitches and i changed all of them just by looking (no pitch gauge). Also, on the hawk sport, when i brought collective down and throttle, the tail rotor would spin down first and the heli would have a tendency to turn badly to the right. So my head speed was too low. But everything works well now. the last problem is going to be determined about my gyro. It is being dumb. Its a csm 200 hh gyro.
well thx for all suggestions.
