Ok, so I have the heading hold hover figured out and the Hawk will hold a nice hover if I can get myself to regulate the throttle correctly, a little practice and she is pretty solid now. My next question is what is the proper way to set up for when the gyro is in normal mode? Currently the heli pivots to the left quite a bit, some right tail rotor input will straighten in out but isn't there a way to get this a little closer?

The proper way to set up the 401, and I believe it says so in the instructions, is to fly it in non-heading hold mode and trim it mechanically (vary the length of the pushrod) until it holds steady in the hover.

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

yeah u should fly switch the gyro into non heading hold and then trim the linkage untill the nose turns slowly into the wind without drifting once it's nose points directly into the wind, once thats done you can switch it back into HH and fly.

Caution

Just make sure when you adjust it mechanically that your endpoints don't bind or the pitch slider doesn't contact the bellcrank pivot.

If it does you will have to adjust the limit on the gyro to prevent the binding or the contact.

After trimming the gyro in normal mode, you must switch the gyro off/on to recalibrate the neutral pulse from the transmitter (if transmitter trim was used). Otherwise it will drift when switched to HH.

Adjust Pushrod

I'm going to give this a try today sometime, thanks for the advice. I will let you all know how things come togather.
