I'm not sure if is a major problem. I haven't removed the training gear yet (I've only put three tanks of fuel through it, but I started with a Hawk Sport and so have reasonable familiarity with controlling the helicopter). I haven't modified the kit in any way yet.

When placed on the ground, it 'sits back' on the skids somewhat, raising the tips a few millimeters off the ground. The canopy helps with this a little, but I was wondering what anyone else has done to 'correct this'...assuming this needs 'correcting'. I don't want to start adding extra weight to the front if it is not needed.

Thanks.

like pepper said, if not consider either using a slightly heavier battery pack at the front or buying one of these

and moving the battery pack you have further forward.

raven 30 is tail heavy also... fill the tank half full then check CG as stated above. my battery 2700mah and RX is as far forward as I can go on stock setup and I have CF tail fins & the low profile skids and it still leans back. I've learned to live with it

You need too

You need to extend the servo tray, get the CF servo extention tray like Darksider has the link for or you can build one from balsa or ply. The CG isn't correct on the Raven models at all no matter what size battery pack that you have or how far you have them mounted forward, the tail is still going to be heavy. Just get the CF servo tray extention, place your battery, and rx on it to get the correct CG. Then you will have to move your canapy pins forward so that the canapy will fit correctly since you "added" approx. 4" to the length. Since you have done this, your CG will be correct without having to add a heavier battery. Next thing you will have to do is have some fun flying. Now go play!

Not all

Tom, not all heli's have a issue with the CG being incorrect. I have only seen it in some Raven 50's. The Ravens fly very well, the one's I have seen they fly almost like their big daddy the Pred's. I have a Hawk Sport, and Raptor 60 and I have no problems with the CG, they are right on. I was just saying that if you don't want a tail heavy Raven that you don't have to add a heavier battery just extend the servo tray. Thats it, plain and simple. The heli is a wonderful flying machine! I don't care what the "other" people think about Century's heli, they fly wonderful, the repair cost are low, and I have never had a single problem with the kits or with customer service. I have been dealing with them for awhile now. So if you choose to stay away from the heli because you have to mod it a little, go for it. No matter what heli you get, you will have to mod it in some form or fashion. There is no true perfect heli right out of the box, we all wish they were such a beast. For now I like doing mod work it gives me more time to see how my heli's work and what mod are best for my type of flying. Has soon my Hawk squeezes it's way into the Bell 222 I am working on I will buy a Falcon SE V2 since all the Hawks are sold out (last I heard during May Day).
