I am going to use my hawk sport still. But since it is to be for crashing, I am going to put the cheap junk servos in it, and a motor that has paid for itself many times over.

Question: What is the cheapest gyro I could use that would be close to the only other one I have ever used? (GY401)

Would these century gyros or a helimax gyro work enough to hold the tail just enough to practice autos?

Try using a Futaba GY240 gyro. It's cheap and holds pretty good. You can buy them on-line for $110.00 or you can find a used one for cheap. It's almost the same as a GY401, but there is no remote access available, you need to turn it on and off manually.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

A used GY401 or GY240 might be your best bet. I wouldn't use anything less than a HH gyro.

Not to long ago i purchased a brand new 401 from heliproz for $115 and it was cheaper than the 240

For an extra $10-15 bucks why not buy a new one.

What about one of these, it looks to be equivalent, and I am sure it would work.

I am about to buy one of these used cheapies.

If anyone has any advice on which of these is better or worse I sure appreciate it.
