ok i have an R30 V1 /OS32 i had a boom strike from severe glitching a couple weeks ago, i put it back together and i spin the head so drive gear is driving the pinion. and i notice this wretched sound from the pinion/main gear. sounds like they arent meshing properly. so i tinker with it and cant figure out what the problem is, so i dropped the motor and pulled the starter shaft out. the bearings seem ok they dont make any noise and i cant feel any clicking in them.but the clutch bell seems to wobble on the start shaft. i didnt see anything visibly wrong with it but im not sure what is supposed to look like either as far as play on the shaft. i put it back together and it still has the same rattly gear sound like they arent meshed properly. i checked the belt tension and its actually a bit looser than it should be. so its not the belt making it bind what the hell is the problem? any help is greatly appreciated thanks Craig

Craig,

Does it smooth out when the engine is dropped a little, like maybe .010"? I have a feeling that you have a washer on the underside of the fan hub assy and it is forcing the clutch to hit the inside of the clutch bell when the motor is in the only place it can be. Since there is no vertical adjustment on the Rap motor mount to side frame fit.

Hi Cforcht

Don't know if it's the same, but I am experiencing the same symptoms.
