I have the TREC ESC on my tail, its the best thing ever created!!!
I have been running the stock HB CP tail rotor all weekend on 3s lipos without it getting warm. I am waiting for it to burn up to go DD, but I dont think its going to happen.

I think we should start sharing Throttle Curves. Here is mine:

Post your TREC ESC curves

I've got one that I'm waiting to try, I'll post mine hopefully this week. I'm excited that you have been running a 3s with that stock setup. I've got Gail Graham's dual motor setup and I think it's going to be a great tail setup.

TREC settings

I set the last points:
15, 16, and 17 at 191. This turns out to be approx. 75% of total output. I've got a dual tail motor setup, so I have plenty of available thrust at those settings, which prevents the voltage from rising to pack voltage in this way:

[FLAGS] "5"
[FLAGS2] "4"
[AVERAGES] "1"
[LOWVOLTAGECUTOFF] "7.23"
[MIXGAIN] "128"
[PWMFREQUENCY] "0"
[ACCELGAIN] "1.000"
[DECELGAIN] "1.000"

[START] "1.100"
[END] "1.900"

[2] "45"
[3] "68"

[6] "133"
[7] "150"
[8] "159"
[9] "166"
[10] "171"
[11] "178"
[12] "184"
[13] "185"
[14] "187"
[15] "191"

I really think it's by far the best tail esc available!

I've also got a GY-401 and will try it for the first time tomorrow. Are you using the dual gain feature?

I also have a 401, I think it works great, but its so big and heavy, as are the wires. My buddy has a lightened CSM200 that works just as good. I might make the switch.

I have dual gain turned off, as far as I could tell, its supposed to be off for HH gyros, let me know otherwise!

GY-401 weight

You could take the case off the 401 and shrink wrap it-it would save a couple of grams.

I purchased my 401 because I plan on going nitro later on this year and its a much better gyro, IMHO.
