Okay, I have it 99% setup just need to know a few things:

1- What does the Delay setting do?
2- How good should the HH be? I am trying to make it stay 100% without any correction, is this feasible? Right now I have to give it some left every few secs to get it back where I want it.
3. If 100% is possible, can the HB Elite CP do it with the stock tail setup or will I need to go DD to get 100%.

Please check my sig, and note the Trec ESC, best thing I ever bought.....the little stock motor has been run all weekend on 3s Lipos, and not even gotten warm!!!

Here is a quote from the manual as to the function of the delay setting:

"When hunting occurs at pirouette stop, increase the delay with the delay trimmer.
This hunting occurs easily when the servo operation speed is slow. If the
delay is increased too much, the tail will drift when stopping and rudder operation
will become sluggish. Adjust the delay to a suitable value."

It goes on to say that with a high-speed digital servo the delay should be set at zero.

The GY401 heading hold is very good, but first you must have a good mechanical trim set up. Without a good mechanical trim it will allow a slight drift.

I can't help with Humming Bird specific questions.

Okay, I hear the terms HUNT and WAGGING, what the definition of each and how do we tune each one out?
I dont get wag, it just drifts and requires a touch of left stick.

Can anyone explain how to properly set mechanical trim in plain english?

I thought that the HH gyros make this not so critical? I basically have my EPA at 100% both ways, 0 SUBTRIM and thats where I leave it, I never touched the trim. I just put the gyro on HH and take off. I assume it should find neutral each time, right?

Thanks!

Hunt and wagging are pretty much the same thing as I understand it. The tail wags back and forth and can't seem to find a static holding spot.

Mechanical trim is not an issue; I believe capebob is referring to a geared tail setup in which the 401 is driving a servo. Don't touch the trim, the gyro will auto-initialize itself.

Also, when plugging in the battery, do it while the heli is on a solid surface and make sure the body doesn't move at all as you plug it in and for a couple seconds after (until the gyro light stops blinking). If you don't do this, you'll get drift (or at least I did!).

You'll get better tail performance with the DD tail for sure.

With a fixed pitch tail you'll never get a 100% tail lock when doing piros and turns and such. There's no way to get the tail to spin up to the speed that it needs to be at instantly, thus some slight wandering or wag. But, you should be able to get it pretty close.

Guys, thanks for all your help, I found out what it was!

My Gyro signal lead (ch5) was not making a good connection to the Reciever and it was slipping in and out of HH mode. Once I fixed that, it became a new Heli!!!!!

My buddy Joserpaq found it actually.

I still have the tiny stock tail motor in it after about 8 packs through it, 3s Lipos! Trec is AWESOME!!!

I think i might put my GY401 up for sale and use a CSM200, my buddy has one and it works just as well, and is so light and simple.
