I converted my first 9CHP from mode 1 to mode 2. I can't remember how to get into the menu to change the mode, but mechanically it is just a matter of moving the centering springs from one gimbal to the other... and moving the throttle tension/ratchet sping and screw over as well.

There is another step that might (or should) be performed and that is calibrating the center position of the stick to the center of the radio. It requires a service module that you put into the campac port and allows access to the full service menu. The problem is that the potentiometers used on the stick gimbals vary slightly from one to the next. On mine, after converted the radio thought the center of the throttle stick was slightly lower than it really was. I imagine the 'center' of the elevator channel had the same issue. It was close enough not to bother me at the time but I ended up buying a mode 2 radio and everything is set perfectly from the factory.

The manual can be found on the web here. In version 1.2 of the manual how to get into the system menu is explained on the bottom of page 15.

Getting into the system menu where you change mode is done through pressing both 'mode' and 'end' when turning on the transmitter. But then you will have to mechanically move the springs and raster/friction components between the sticks too of course. As mentioned in the manual.

Hi,

there are different mechanical versions of the FF9, but all should be convertable.

Before you order a TX in Japan, you should check Cyberheli in Hongkong as they have 35MHz.

Andi G is correct there is sometimes more than the sticks that differ between different version of the FF9, the switches on the shoulders for example move between the shoulders depending on variant.

Hi,

and robbe had a stick assembly where you could move a plate between the sticks with only one screw to change the mode.
No need to fiddle with tiny springs...
