predator os70/MPII combo running 700 blades on wildcat 15%, new os8 plug when I started to lean her out after breakin', headertank, pitch -6,-3,0,5,10 throttle 0,20,40,60,100 (even boosted 1/4 stick up didn't help much)

engine has about 2+ gallons or so through it.

my problem is on spool up when warm at about 1/3 to 1/4 stick it chokes and sputters and dies sometimes if I don't milk it. when it does lift off it is spitting oil like a champ. it is really messy after a flight. the hover and when I get at 50% throttle it goes smooth and highend is great and transition between are fine.

I've leaned the idle and leaned the mid to the point it goes away somewhat but then runs too hot??? (197+- on landing and heat gunning the head) I've leaned the high and rich mid, etc

I just can't seem to win...when I finally called it quits (when it quit on spoolup) I am at just lean of center idle, 1 3/4 high and 5/8 turn open on mid.

is the MPII causing too much backpressure causing a rich condition at 20%-30% throttle? I've read just opening the mid a few clicks? but am scared to try that... if anyone is running this setup and wildcat let me know

thanks guys

Hey JlDesign,

Yeah i'm running that settup in my new fury, i have the OS 70 with a MPII running on an OS No'8 with Coolpower 10%.

So far i am only running the motor in but it is producing plenty of power and is running cool when using the finger on the backplate test.

from what you are describing it sound as though it is too rich, what plug and fuel are you using just out of interest?

Also with the MPII check the mounting bolts that hold the pipe to the header after every flight and before, mine came loose during a flight and the motor ran a little hot due to lower pressure to the tank from the exhaust causing a it to run a little lean.

I'm moving up to CP15% Heli after break in but that may be a while as today the fury hit the deck after a fault of some kind cause the heli to tip over in the hover causing the blades to hit the deck and damage the usual blades/flybar/main+feather shafts and chewed up a JR 8301 digital servo.

Let us know how you get on, it could be something as daft as the incorrect plug or fuel, i found that out with my millennium, i was running 10% CP and a MT M3 plug in it and i could get it to run right but after speaking to a chap in the know a change to 15% CP and a MT F7 changed things dramatically.

Cheers!

I had the same trouble. I had a full card (6) of bad glow plugs. They all had the same symptom that you described above. I purchased a new card of plugs and now everything is great.

broke engine on os#8 running stock settings just hovering (1 gallon sig 15% heli with 22% oil content) didn't notice condition just sluggish because of rich settings

changed plug os#8 running wildcat 15% leaning out needles 3/4 gallon or so

changed plug again os#8 as condition starts up wildcat 15% about 3/4 gallon

same plugs from same card bought on ebay 1 year ago been using on os32 engines without problem same fuel

I'll try a new plug next time out and richen up a bit and see what happens... muffler bolts and everything checked after each flight no problems yet.

RotorHead486 sorry bout your problem!!

after some tinkering here is where I'm at

NEW os#8 plug

1/2 turn mid
1 1/2 high
rich on the idle about 11:00ish if 12:00 is factory (I was trying to lean the idle but should have been richer)

runs sweet! although I did install a GV-1
